Topic: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

So I am working on a T-shirt (and maybe a poster?) for the Thunderhill race. This is all to help raise money for Alex's Lemonade stand. Given that the race is going to be HUGE, I wanted to do something equally HUGE, but am biting off more than I can! So I need some help.

I want to create a poster with as many illustrated cars as possible.

So here's what I need help with

1) Generate a best of list of Lemons cars. Either specific vehicles (Model T GT, Cessna etc), or more generic (E30, Volvo, Civic etc) - this one anyone can help with, just enter them here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ … sp=sharing

2) Create the illustrations themselves. This requires some Adobe Illustrator (or similar) knowledge. I've done a couple in a pretty simple and relatively easy to do style. It would be best if that style could be maintained as close as possible so they are cohesive. If you are willing, let me know, and I will point you in the right direction.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

A fair bit of feedback going on here on Facewebz.

The folks at Thunderhill let us know we wouldn't be able to sell these shirts at that event as they already have a plan for an event-specifc shirt they'll be selling on site. I was pretty sure that would happen but I'm very glad we asked ahead of time and avoided any misunderstandings or conflicts.

Still, we may be able to sell these shirts online and/or at CMP or other events where such conflicts don't exist in order to raise more money for ALSF.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

i don't/can't facebook, but at the risk of releasing my inner Narcissus I'd love to see 1 representative car of the 11 I've built make it on a commemorative shirt.

Maybe the sChITROEN, CorVegge or ToyoHog?

Moreover, I think any list would be remiss if it were to exclude the Bavarian Ranchero, radial MR2, backwards pickup, ScrubbyVebubbleyou, Limo, and Porcubimmer/Prickstine/Homer.

This is a monumental task and I don't envy you having to edit down the cars who make the final cut.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

K-Car should sully this too.

No car has "touched" so many Lemons teams.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

K-Car and Spank's creations have been added to the list of cars to be potentially included on this AWESOME T-SHIRT.

Check them all out and add your suggestions for including on this AWESOME T-SHIRT here.

Does anyone have experience with on-demand t-shirt fulfillment from a place like Shirtbot.co or similar? We can't sell these at Thunderhill but I hope to have at least one or more examples to show folks there. We're considering a poster, too. All proceeds would go straight to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Tsk.  Hideous tire/fender gap.  Also, needs blue thruster glow/flames.  Then it would deserve its own shirt, or MB shop coat.

Have you considered the Lemons Logo cars that TinyVette Mike used for the HOFAW book?  You could cram a ton of those on a T-shirt.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

Thanks for the additions to the sheet and that's a great idea about the lemony logo illustrations used in the book. I'll talk it over with the main designer / artist for the shirt and with Mike. That might be version 2 or version 1 of the shirt since they already exist.

We likely won't have these shirts ready in September but will rather take our time to make sure we have a quality end product like Mike did with the coffee table book.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

I've got a bunch of these. They are small, about 350 pixels wide, which would be good enough for a shirt full of little Lemons.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

It's not too difficult to get from this, a photo with the background removed:

to this, the same image converted to black lines (no grays)

and finally this, a pink t-shirt.

Actually, it can be a lot of work depending on the starting photo and how clean you want the result to be, but it's not complicated.

Now if Corey would just make the danged t-shirts. wink

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

I was thinking the main text of the t-shirt should say "The Biggest Race in the History of Motorsports", using a big colorful font, sort of Batman/comic book style.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

I quick doodle to get the idea going. It needs a cartoon-style action photo.

Re: Best of Lemons T-Shirt/Poster - need illustration help

Something like this. It's probably too complicated for a t-shirt, so how about a movie poster instead?
