Topic: Caterham 160s. 3 cylinders, 80BHP and other numbers.

I thought a few of you might be interested in my latest car. It's a press-fleet Caterham 160S. This means a turbo'd 3 cylinder Suzuki car engine with just 80BHP, styling from the 1950's and lively driving dynamics. The car is new, I collected it from the factory near London and put about a thousand miles on it. Pics below:

This is England, so, yeah, rain. The roof is useless. It completely came off at 80MPH during a storm. Along with a bit of the door. All good fun.

Great on track!

Is this the car that James May liked a lot on a Top Gear episode?

That's freakin' awesome. Definitely the one out of their range I'd want.

Wait a minute... I have a 3-Cylinder Suzuki engine.... Commence violent contemplative chin stroking.

I've been wanting one since I saw it on Top so called Gear.

Hopefully my soon to be Mialvo will scratch that itch.

It's my favourite from their line up too. I could have taken something with silly power but I think that misses the point.

Those 3 cylinder engines are interesting. Caterham said that they're supposed to only have 80BHP from new due to some Japanese regulation or something, but when they bench tested new engines delivered from Suzuki they have quite a bit more power. Considering they're turbo-charged I wonder how hard it would be to turn up the wick a bit?

I had to google Mialvo. Glad I did smile

Next new/old press car is similarly retro. Got this booked for some fun soon;
