Here's a quick and crappy shot of all three Lemons on the track together.

Well, I say "together"... but that might be a little optimistic.

Nice.....however I don't think your times are that much behind the SB or V8olvo....I'd say 20 seconds tops

It quit!   We fixed a fuel leak and tried to restart it.. No go.  Now we're going back through the diagnostic tree..  Its got good fuel pressure and ignition.. we're looking at another problem with the ECU... wish us luck.

You've still got time to fabricate an adapter plate to get a Quadrajet onto that engine!

A Quadrajunk carb will work way better on that thing than the CIS!!!!! You should put 3 fire systems in that thing and a bucket of sand just in case!!!!

I know its almost unimaginable but we are having a hard time chasing down friggin electrical issues.....8 million 25 year old 150k+ mileage sensors with old wiring equals major headaches.....

I think I "might" know whats wrong this time......famous last words huh

Yeah, it's a 928. Man, the picture of that fuse/relay box would have me looking for a different car.

Re: OK, so we bought this 928 for $250, and we're racing it

I agree about the carb mod.

Pull all that wiring...

Re: OK, so we bought this 928 for $250, and we're racing it

Our 260Z has carbs yet has a ton of wiring.  I thought for sure I could get rid of the majority of it, but once I started sorting it and studying the factory service manual, I realized that much of it simply couldn't be removed.  The distributor, tach, alternator, voltage regulator, amp gauge, etc all needed parts of the stock wiring system.  I removed all else and direct wired everything I could.

I can't imagine what a pain in the ass the 928 must be..

A Quadrajet? Rochester's mechanical impression of Lucas electrics? Might as well use a late EM4M and while you're at it, get rid of those pesky little balls in the throttle body...The Rochester Quadrajet....the carb that made Holley famous...

It Lives!    the temp sensor was bad, open circuit, and that open circuit means the computer will not operate.  We replaced it with one out of a Volvo...  Viola-it runs!

we're back in business.

Nice meeting you today!!  I'll see you on Friday!!

as Richard Pagel said, all is well (for now) in our 928 "estate"....a simple sensor killed the whole car....but a replacement was scavenged off an old volvo L jet motor and its instantly running the best it ever has!!

Re: OK, so we bought this 928 for $250, and we're racing it

What's wrong with the Quadrajet? I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on Q-Jet-equipped cars, and never had problems with them (plus I've run mid-13 quarter-miles in a beater Impala with a Q-Jet-fed small-block). You just have to avoid the computerized version (shudder).

As an added bonus, you get that awesome da-WHOOOOOO! sound when those huge secondaries kick in. Imagine that sound in a Porsche!

Ohhh, wait 'til y'all see the engine-turned aluminum roof panel...  If it dies again, at least it'll look cool... we'll push the damn thing through BS judging!

Hey, let's get a Quadrajet-Holley-ThermoQuad flame war going! It will be like OSX versus Windows versus Linux, only with the smell of gasoline!

Anyway: EFI > carburetors, unless you have six or more carbs.

EFI is the bomb, for sure. big_smile

And you forgot the Edelbrock and the Carter AFB/AFS. wink

Re: OK, so we bought this 928 for $250, and we're racing it

if I could find a bunch of weber IDA's that fit our budget (ya right) I would go for it on the 928....yes it would probably run worse and take forever to tune, just to go out of tune later the same day...but it sure would look cool!!!!
