For the last 40 years there has been only ONE car at the top of my list. Not just any 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner (convertible), but MY old 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner.
It was supposed to become mine when I turned 16 (it was just an old car at the time). Instead family matters got in the way and it was given to an uncle, who traded it to a cousin's uncle for a custom 70's Ford van, and that's where the trail ended.
Last time I saw it she was parked on the street in 1977 in Nevada City, northern CA. I promised my old friend as she sat there that somehow, someday I WOULD find her again. I've gotten some leads via other Lemons racers in the last few years but nothing has panned out.
At this point I wouldn't be able to rescue her even if I did find her, if she was even still around. All I really want to know is what happened to it so I can finally move on with my life.
(may or may not be the actual car - probably not but a man needs his dreams)
This Buttera built car hypnotized me 30 years ago. It just needs a cage, and round headlights.
1st-Gen Viper GTS, blue with white stripes. Totally a teenager fantasy car, but I still love it:
My more realistic & practical dream car is a G8 GXP:
Either that or a CTS-V sport wagon. Why do people always laugh at me when I say that?
I would daily drive one of these if Chevrolet finds a way to rebadge and sell in the US.

Because most people have no idea that Cadillac makes a five-door missile. I've always loved wagons, so the CTS-V is like p0rn to me.
Of course, according to Rule 34, there is actual CTS-V porn somewhere on the Internet.
Yeah, hot rod wagons are the bomb... Have owned many and lust for others... Love my 300 hp V70R (Ok, so it's my wife's grocery getter, but it is fast as hell) Have owned 1800ES, 245 turbo... AMG E63 wagons are getting cheap in the resale market.......
Then I'll just leave this here...

I've always had a thing for wagons and the CTS V makes me think impure thoughts.
My wife hates it, but would like a CTS coupe
a C6 Z06/ZR1 would do it for me too.
Just got the lightning lap issue and the new, overweight camaro 1LE is almost as fast as a GT500 mustang (< 1 sec/ lap?). The ZL1 is 3 seconds/lap faster, IIRC. I'd take one of those, too.
ZR1 beat a 140K new viper in a comparo, and 2 sec/ lap faster at Laguna Seca.

Agreed on hot rod wagons, but I think there is nothing cheap about a used AMG. Purchase price is but a down payment on a life of pain.
Nor is there anything particularly fast about an 1800ES. Though they are quite nice to look at, and fun to drive.
Why can I not just think of a car that I can take and be happy with sans mods? I'm not sure there is a car out there that I can drive stock. A late model C63 AMG sedan would probably get me closest for a practical daily driver.
The ultra aggressive street car has to be a 458 Italian Scuderia when it comes around. Of course, that preference is biased.
