Re: Let the games begin - Who wants the NSF K Car?

at this point, i'm merely transporting the car, i'm not in a position to field a team (several of my normal collection of drivers are unable to race this summer for various reasons, we had to bring in a noob just to make four drivers in our team entry)

If a team steps up to race it at ECR, i'll bring it. i'd like to work a deal for seat time in some sort of exchange for transport.
if the three teams who have offered paddock help to a team of A&Ds at ECR decide they wanna use it as a three-way second car, i'll bring it.
otherwise, it'll sit at my shop in OKC awaiting transport to BFE or points west.

Engine is in.  Many of the bolts are bolted, many wires are wired, many hoses are connected.  We had a strut that tried to kill each of us in separate events.  Can't wait to get started on the other one.

Super K is going to Road America!!

Texas, where are you guys?  I think the problem is that all the Texas teams saw in person what the K is really all about.

The rest of the US still has faith.

Probably just that us midwest guys consider any car that ole where we can't stick our head through a rust hole in 75% of the body panels as in good shape.

I called them a bunch of sissies..

I guess they were right.

Now, anyone here know the trick to getting the axles to seat?  We got a new drivers side axle/cv assembly and there is so much springy/give in it we can't compress it enough where a good whack with a hammer will seat it well.

So what size and type of tire does this thing run? I'm sure we'll want to bring some spares.

Re: Let the games begin - Who wants the NSF K Car?

Spank,

I'm sure you will be checking this thread, so I'll leave you a message here.

I am sorry to inform you that you will need to relocate your operations to the Midwest or East Coast.  I'm sure the fine folks of the Lemons world can assist you in moving your fleet, but I'm afraid that you just don't fit in on the West Coast.

It seems that aside from you, no one west of the Mississippi has enough BALLS to man up and sign up for a turn in the K.

Replacing parts?  Aren't they aware of the epic battle for slowest LeMon at Gingerman?  With functioning suspension the K car won't be able to compete with the likes of the Simca or Diesel Chevette.

But it IS running snow tires. Unfortunately that might give us an additional advantage knowing what the weather is like up there.

Re: Let the games begin - Who wants the NSF K Car?

Well, CaptainCardigan and I had a team meeting last night. I don't know if we're riding high from almost having our car prepped for CMP or if it's just the paint fumes, but we decided we'll race the K car at MSR in September. It'll be a two-pronged Chrysler assault: old school and new school. Plus, the American flag and our existing NASA theme complement each other as well. AMERICAAA!

It's right in our backyard, so we shouldn't have trouble rounding up enough idiots to fill two cars. We just need to figure out where it'll be coming from (Thunderhill, anyone?) and how to get it up to RA. Maverick74, are you based in the Illinois/Wisconsin area? We'll have two months, so we should be able to figure something out. Ideally, someone would be able to get a jump on things by bringing it North after MSR.

Re: Let the games begin - Who wants the NSF K Car?

I as current owner of the Reliant K wagon decree that from this day forward Ron Vickers, aka RONMAN, will be known as the "American Service Specialist" or ASS, for all maters involving parts, materials and service, PMS for the 1986 K wagon.

Summary:

Ron is the ASS for all of your PMS concerning the POS.

My ownership of the POS expires in 5 days but the ASS will be available for PMS until termination of the K it Forward project.
