ROFL!
Nice.
This country needs more ASS and PMS.
So if we want the big block, rear wheel drive conversion we just order it from Ron?
By the end of the season, this car will have consumed 11 junkyard engines. But it's nice to build a shiny new one to start the year.
Save the busted engine parts and make unique trophies for the car/teams

We're optimistic idiots. We plan on driving the thing up north, together with one of our two other cars. We only have one tow vehicle and a rented tow dolly for two going down and three going up o_O
So if we want the big block, rear wheel drive conversion we just order it from Ron?
Yes. Ron can satisfy all of your needs.
Maverick74, are you based in the Illinois/Wisconsin area? We'll have two months, so we should be able to figure something out. Ideally, someone would be able to get a jump on things by bringing it North after MSR.
Unfortunately no, from west central Minnesota. It looks to be a fairly straight shot north from MSR.
Also gonna have to figure out a way to get out to Spank...
Psychoboy and I are handling the transport from Gingerman to ECR.
yup. if a team wants it at ECR, i'll bring it. otherwise it'll sit at my shop in OKC until the next team steps up.
if the next team wants to get it at ECR, i'll come home empty. if the next team wants to pick it up in OKC or meet me somewhere between OKC and them, we can work that out, too.
The super K did about an hour on the TNT today. No issues and we are running cool and straight. Also, the car now has legal tags. So we will drive it to the corner gas station to refuel and driver changes.
SWEET!
race monitor says the k car is faster than the Cessna.....
whatever that means.
The engine suffered a minor case of crankcase ventilation yesterday morning. As of 1045 last night the engine was almost in and a transmission issue had been discovered.
Have been trying to post carnage pics but wifi. And 3g are spotty. Will put those up when I get home. I'm definitely trailering it to md for sputnik, whether this configuration survives or not.
Cabinboy you should start stockpiling engines
Cabinboy you should start stockpiling engines
Or license plates and JB weld.
Cabinboy you should start stockpiling engines
Truth.
If it'll be in MD, I have a Volvo 122 drivetrain that I'm sure would drop right in.
Towed the K at breakneck speed through a friggin' snowstorn this morning (where did THAT come from?). It is presently in my driveway, awaiting delivery to the Sputnik circus.
In other news, my property values have decreased dramatically.
If you want to bring that 122 driveline up later today and dump it on the trailer, there's plenty of room, and I'm sure Alex will figure it out
The girls worked on the car all night w a tiny bit of help from the XY NSFers, even Mamma Bumble Bee stopped by to assist.
The Junk yard engine we acquired was perfect after some minor tweaking.
If it means anything - the crew on our right paddock won 1st overall and the crew on our left won IOE. It's like the super K makes everyone a little better than they really are. People are going to want to be near you.
Here is Alex doing some kind of Eastern Block melding with the super K. Once he laid eyes on the super K he just drank a quart of whisky & took a moment.
There was a formal ceremony where the keys were passed to Sputnik and Judge Phil presided over it. I don't have those photos yet.
What's the wheelbase of the K?
EDIT: According to the Paedia of Wiki:
"All had a 100.1-inch (2,540 mm) wheelbase. The overall length of the two and four-door models was 176 inches (4,500 mm). The wagon was 0.2 inches (5.1 mm) longer. "
The Volvo 122 wheelbase is 102". We can make this work.
MOAR EDIT: 2nd through 4 Gen Mustangs ('74 through 2004) have wheelbases within spittin' distance of the K's. The Fox body is right at 100".
I think with one weekend to do the build, I won't have the time to do anything exotic. I'll go to the junkyard in two weeks to drop off remnants of the Stanza, and will pick up a spare drivetrain or three. Seems to work best - just replace one after every three-four 20-minute stints, from the looks of it. Together, we can cause a shortage of 2.2 motors!
Turboooooooooo! (No, really. The turbo motors are hardened and probably stand a better chance of surviving. Doubly so if you strip off the turbo)
The 2.2 engine does have limited power and dependability issues but it more than compensates for it short comings as a cup holder.
*pours out a little on the ground for the Stanza*
