Exactly!  My preferred mode is to stand there, point and say "That doesn't look right."

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

OK - Update here on the World Record attempt:

We had 216 verifiable cars participating at the start of the race this morning, as verified by Specialty Timing. As far as the record goes, that's enough to take it.

Last thing is to collect all the evidence, including a few things to do tomorrow, and submit it to Guinness for verification and record certification.

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

Figured I'd drop in an update on the "Official-ness" of the Guinness World Record so far.

The evidence pack has made its way to London successfully. Guinness has initially reviewed the evidence and responded with some follow up questions (Why do you have 242 cars entered and only 216 participants? Why does the number of car photos not match the 216 number? Why does this car have a cat-headed pink pop tart on it?*)

I've resubmitted a fresh photo album of all 216 (thanks, Phil, Guy and Eric for tracking down missing car images) and Nick has addressed the other items in a written letter to Guinness.

They've accepted the new photo album (https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1038 … 7Wes7XYywE, if you're interested in checking out all cars arranged by number). They are awaiting Nick's letter, which should arrive today or the beginning of the week.

We'll let you know if any news comes up!

J

*No. Not really. They haven't asked anything about the general hooligan-ness of the cars, for some reason. They either aren't paying any attention, or are afraid of catching eye-herpes.

Have you ever heard of a "Folly"?  Those folks from the Ilse's are used to excetric.

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

The MyLaps results showed that 228 cars recorded laps.

Thanks for the update. I look forward to being 1/216th of a world record.

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

OK - we are *seriously* close on this. Hearing from Guinness that they are happy with the last update to the evidence package and are ready to officially accept the record once their new website transition (started last week) is done.

It also looks like they've decided on the 216 number, at this point.

SOOON!

216?

We can beat that in 2015!

It's been two weeks since the last update.  Any more news?

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

GWR went straight from updating their website to "on vacation" until Jan 5th. I wasn't able to get them to "push the approval button" before they left.

I'm hoping to have it all buttoned up soon. I'll be sure to report back here when we do.

Cheers!

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

Any update or instructions on how we can get a certificate to glue on to our cars.

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

We're waiting on GWR to provide us the codes used for ordering your own certificates.
Once we get those, you'll be able to buy them here:
http://store.guinnessworldrecords.com/p … ucts_id=32

I'll be sure to update this thread once I get them...

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

What is the official title of the record if you are searching for it on the Guiness site?

<long sigh>
It's not up yet. I've badgered them three times about it, but their answer was that it can take 'a while' for it appear on the site.
It should be "Most Participants in a Car Race".

Re: Guinness World Record at Thunderhill - UPDATED: GET YOUR CERTIFICATE!

OK - Great news - we have the codes we need for people to order their own personalized "Participation" certificates. They are sold by Guinness for $25 each and shipping is a relatively steep $20-30.

Here's the process:

- Go here:
http://store.guinnessworldrecords.com/p … ucts_id=32
- Add certificate to your basket
- When prompted, use the following information:

  • ID: 150107-20130

  • Code: jwiu4289JW

- That should open up a page where you can customize, approve and order
- Wash, rinse, repeat as necessary

Because Guinness, that's why. Hey - give me/them some credit, they fixed the "24 Hours of Lemons" part, the "216 cars" part. Hush up and send them your shillings/pounds/sixpence or whatever already, Corey.

The Lemons store  should offer a large  poster of the starting field. I would buy one!

Tired Iron Racing, Class A Winner of 2023 Days of Thunder & the Hooptie-Con Engine heat Cooking Competition, otherwise just a 50x loser, which is somehow able to finish in the top ten, if we don't step on our own dicks.
