Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

As with all good Great Lakes affected forecasts, it will change day to day randomly until June.  Now they are saying occasional rain Saturday and Sunday but Friday only has "considerable cloudiness"...which is new meteorological term for me.

No mater what, the first jackhole that does not bring a parka get's beaten within an inch of his life if we have snow or sleet because we all know it will be their fault.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

I have special boots to keep my feet warm and dry that I had purchased just because we come to this race every year.  They will be packed.

I just have this false hope it will be nice.

Don't worry. The weather is going to be ok.  How do you know you may ask??? Because we are not bringing our Escort there. Every April race it snowed or was cold as hell when we were there. Since we ran Barber the last year I judged the race, the weather was fine. If my theory is correct, you guys should be fine.

Work is going to so much wasted time this week.

This thing handles like a pig, accelerates like a tractor but brakes pretty darned good if you do not mind exposing the rear axle to the competition (it has a big of an issue with brake dive). My biggest fear...this probably a really easy car to roll...because it is van.  Maybe taking a connecting rod/deer to that huge windshield is my biggest fear...but I drink away my fears in private and occasionally in public.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

Well at least rear visibility is good... In a car that will be passed a lot.

When we stuck those front brakes on the Ciera it definetly stopped better.  Of course I have no problem showing people my rear axle.  Although you upgraded the rear brakes so not sure if that may cause you problems cause I know my back end gets pretty light on braking.

Well, our rear rotors and calipers are now larger than the fronts so I am sure nothing could possibly go wrong.

Thou hath cursed us!  Now they are calling for 60% of showers during the roving paddock party prime time.  With my level of confidence in this prediction, I am contemplating not bringing the giant console TV for viewing of our in-van camcorder footage.  I mean, I paid like $10 for the thing and I would not want it to get wet.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

Well, the car still hasn't run since July.  We've been troubleshooting since Saturday and are about ready to throw in the towel.

If we can't get it started tonight, we are going to give up on the Golf for this race and dig a different car out of mothballs, call into work, and have a furious 2 day thrash session to get it ready.  Some people on our team suggested bringing both cars and thrashing at the track.  We'll see how this goes..

I'll lend a hand in the at Track thrashing if needed.

My car is mostly ready and I'm sleeping at the track all weekend starting Thursday.

If only you had a van to put the TV in to keep it dry.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

If anyone has some half worn 15 inch tires they want to sell, bring them and if we run all day Saturday we will need some to finish the race Sunday. Wasn't confident enough with the engine swap to order new tires but if by some miracle it all holds together will be looking for rubber.

Brett, LemonAid will bring four Direzzas (205/50/15) with us to the track. They are yours with our compliments. Should have 50% remaining.

Should I toss a couple of the Rival's from the Saturn on the trailer for good measure?  The are still on the Saturn rims, though.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

Brett, we'e so flush with half used tires that we all wonder if we should get an E30 as a daily driver.  Honestly, we may have 20 tires up in our team mates garage.  I don't know.  Maybe more.  Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

Give them out as party favors! Any of them good enough for street use? I'll be looking for new shoes for my street Neon.

We're not racing this weekend but I'm coming up Saturday just to see everyone and enjoy these fine racing machines.

Re: Who is in for Gingerman?

At the very last hour before we gave up and switched to the backup car, the car finally coughed to life last night!

Apparently someone on our team doesn't understand how + and - relate to red and black wires, specifically on the fuel pump.

Also, the crank position sensor likes to die while the car sits...second time this has happened.

See you at Gingerman!!

Had this not happened in time I would have offered to let you pick up the Saturn en route.  I mean it is not like I lock my garage.  It just needs a seat, belts and a battery clamp to be race ready.

Glad to see it started.  We look forward to passing you (in the paddock) with the racevan.
