Meh.  Except for the better availability of older cars, most of us reverse carpetbaggers have been happy to trade the winter for our summer.  You can dress for the cold but no one wants to see me undress for the heat...not even me.

Good call.  Lots of GPS's suggest taking Patterson Road and it is slightly less fit for larger rigs.

Plus there is a new truckstop/gas station at the corner of Laraway and 53.

Yeah, I forgot about the new one - it's on the SW corner.  And navigation services tell you to take Paterson which is BS.  Laraway was re-built to handle lots of big-rig traffic after the expansion of that huge shipping depot, so it's ideal for race haulers.

This is excellent, almost as good as the one above it. FWIW, I don't think Autobahn want us proles using the yellow paddock unless everything else is completely full. You're certainly not welcome to traverse the outer road beyond that paddock.

Re: Counting your chickens early: Autobahn 24-hour race in July

As I recall, autobahn normally closes its gates at like 10:30pm, and if you are outside, you get stuck spending the night in your truck/rig/commuter car.

Is it safe to assume that at least on Saturday night (when we are racing) that they will leave the gates open so that we can make fuel runs and such?

Are any of the local stations even 24hr places?

That's weak sauce.  We've had more than that on the south track before I think.  Must be something to do with the night time driving.

Re: Counting your chickens early: Autobahn 24-hour race in July

Ok... We have a ton of partly used tires.  Direzza Star Spec 205/50-15s.  If there is any interest we can bring to the track this weekend.   Most tires are about 20-50% left, some have more life than that.  We typically ask only $20 per tire that we donate to the charity (Wildwood Hills Ranch).   Ask Brett or other teams at Gingerman if what we bring is junk.  smile
