Topic: Race Session I/II

Some events scheduled have race sessions. I interpret that as driving time on the track that starts at 10AM and ends at 5:30PM. Is this correct or am I misreading this since it is 24 Hours of Lemons and there are lights that need to be on car numbers and the like?

Re: Race Session I/II

Only 1 or 2 races per year in "24 hours of Lemons" are actual legit 24 hour nonstop races. The rest usually have a Saturday session and Sunday session of usually 6-8 hours each.

The scoring is done combined for the two days though, unlike *other* series where each day is counted as a separate race.

Lights and lighted car numbers are only required for the full 24 hour races.

Yes, but they're totally cool (see Cheap homemade lighted numbers).

Also, people are saying:
1. They make the numbers more prominent, visible, and therefore desirable, and
2. They result in a more powerful racecar, and
3. They make the car run longer, which is good in an endurance event, and
4. Domination awaits.
It's what I heard.

Having said that, I'd like to _eventually_ light my numbers; but except being more visible at night, they won't have any of those effects  ;-) .

The only lights you need for almost all races are brake lights.  If you are doing a full 24 then check the rules for specifics.  The only full 24 this year is HPR in June I believe.
