Apparently John's gone pirate!
a little vin research reveals that it is a 1968 Datsun Sport 2000, not a 1969 Datsun Sport 1600 like the seller thought
but then there is the VIN tag that says 2000 engin displacement, so that was easy research.

Flathead Ford? That'd be my vote, if you can find one cheap enough.
Since its a 2000 roadster it should get a L20B, obviously.
Final motor hint: it will not use gasoline

Powerstroke 7.3!
Powerstroke 7.3!
I did pick up a van last week with a 7.3l IDI. Did you know the dry weight of the engin is about the same as the Roadster minus it's motor and convertible top?

Internal combustion using wood gasification?

LOVE it, John.
Your build/laps ratio is presently 1:1. Should be easy to best...
Wondering what kind of battery setup you will use to feed the forklift motor...

I've been considering this, but I haven't pitched it to anyone because I can't figure out a reliable killswitch arrangement.
Will it run on propane and propane accessories?
Will it run on propane and propane accessories?
Unlikely, unless Hoonatic has somehow been more convincing than I (and all the other nuts who have asked HQ about this). See here: http://forums.24hoursoflemons.com/viewt … 367#p74367
It is powered by dreams and pixie dust, or he could be flintstoning it.
