Snagged a 7 series of the same vintage for 900 that ran and drove fine, about 130k miles in it with the I6.  Beautiful car, works great, even has a car phone!  Love these gen BMWs.

I have a 540i of this generation, the rare 6 speed. I’d call it a daily driver (it used to be) but it’s more a special occasion ride now that I’ve owned it almost a decade. Had it at the track for a few Inde races. Got a good laugh when I commented about it to a fellow racer, “ if we were serious about winning, we’d cage THAT one”... it’s a great platform.

More recently I think the Inde overall went to a 525, covered in Lemons? SoCal team whose name escapes me...

I have a 99 540i sport 6 speed with 228,000 as my daily driver. The car runs strong and handles great. It would make a very good race car. However I can't bring myself to hacking it up....
