Topic: Class C project: 1966 Volvo amazon with 80% complete Miata swap...
Life is taking me in a different direction (baby on the way, new car project, etc...) and I think I'll have to be happy with renting seats in other peoples race cars for a while.
So that means my Amazon project is for sale.
1966 Volvo 122s, Clean CA title in my name, up to date registration.

I bought this car and drove it in the Lemons rally (original motor/trans), I probably should have cut my loses and just sold/scrapped it then... but I instead it sat around my house for a few years before I finally decided to swap a "modern" motor and transmission in. So I bought a BP6D Miata motor from one of the wreckers in England and had a Miata 6 speed laying in the corner of the garage. I got the motor running on the stand, checked the compression (all good! 165+) and in it went. But it's only 80% there
Motor:
2001+ Miata BP6D from the EU
Fresh cam and crank seals
New WP/timing belt
New valve cover gasket
Rear waterneck block off for space
Custom mounting plates on Volvo subframe to use OE Miata mounts
EUDM tri-y header with bung for o2 sensor
Analog oil pressure gauge
Trans:
? year Miata 6 speed
no shifter
949 lightweight flywheel
949 organic clutch
Custom adapter to mount Miata clutch master to Volvo firewall
Custom trans mount
Wiring:
1999/2000 BP4W wiring harness modded to run standalone from the Miata already wired to Volvo ignition switch
BP4W coils
Needs:
Brake master cylinder replaced (new one comes with the car)
Cooling: Aluminum Scirocco radiator and Moroso filler neck comes with car, needs hoses and fan
Drive shaft: Miata driveshaft and Volvo drive shaft comes with car, you figure out how to attach them together
Transmission tunnel: Original tunnel comes with the car, but wont fit over Miata trans.
Shifter: no shifter provided with trans
Exhaust: Flange to mate to the EUDM header, but no exhaust otherwise
o2 sensor
Fuel pump/filter: Miata fuel pump relay trigger wire is broken out of the harness, but no wiring done, no pump or filter provided
It's honestly not much to get it running/driving, but baby and new project will be here soon, so away it goes.
It's located in the SF Bay Area. You'll need to tow it away (I can help with this for a fee).
A lemonsy price of $500 for car, but then another $1000 for the Miata bits (I'll include some OE stuff like a flywheel/pressure plate so you can "sell" them to offset the cost of the nice bits if you want to reduce your penalty laps).
You could scrap the car and sell the Miata parts for a size-able profit, just don't tell me if you do.
email geoff+volvo@miata.how if you're interested (yes add the + to email address please).
