Topic: What to do if a driver drops out at the very last minute

What do you do if one of your 4 driver drops out at the very last minute (like the day before the race) and all fees have been paid?  This would only leave 3 drivers actually available to drive the car.

Re: What to do if a driver drops out at the very last minute

I would probably try to get a driver from another team to do a stint or two.  Once you are a registered driver, you can drive any car at the race.  Most drivers wouldn't pass up some free seat time.

They still let you race in the race though right?

No problem. Like btp76 said, longer stints, and that's not a bad thing.

We run our drivers til the car sputters for gas, usually 2.5 hours.

Re: What to do if a driver drops out at the very last minute

find a 5 or 6 person team and have them officially sign up one your team whther they drive or not

Does that happen often.  I am looking to buy-in to a team and try Lemons....but I wonder if it is worth it to show up at the track and let people know I am available....A driver doesn't show...I can reimburse the team for the missing driver;s fee and drive?

I thought it was required to have at least 4 drivers.

Should have made your drivers swear that unless they have somehow lost 2 or more limbs that they would race! But because you didn't, you need to find an alternate and plead with Jay to let him join your team.

Technically, you need to be a registered driver to race.  Which means you should be on a team.

Registration gets locked down about a week out and I don't know why.

So technically you can't just show up, get on a team and race.

I've never been carded.

If you have raced in another Lemons race, there might be a loop hole there.

Regarding minimums, you have to have 4-6 drivers but there is no requirement that they all drive.

At Stafford you werent allowed on the track till they saw your driver bracelet, only way to get that was to be a registered driver.

Re: What to do if a driver drops out at the very last minute

We hav run into this with the Fl teams and since there are about 4 teams from our area we have agreed to cover for each other if needed. So we can borrow a driver  if needed.  Seems to work well.
