Re: any Mongol Rally spec vehicles in US?

I think a 1st Gen Honda Insight is the only other 4-wheel USDM vehicle that fits the specs, and there's no way I'd want to take one of those on the Mongol Rally.  Nor would I want to take the Smart, actually, with its oddball automated manual transmission.

From what I've seen, every team from North America has purchased a car over in Europe.

I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon. The drink packs a wallop and I pack a revolver.

Re: any Mongol Rally spec vehicles in US?

Just saw this....

I ran the Rickshaw Run across India with those guys a few years ago, Awesome time!!

Almost everyone buys something over there, it's easier and cheaper than shipping it across the pond. And theres lots of small crappy cars in Europe.  I bet the organizers can set you up with a ride before you even arrive, they're cool that way.

You can run bigger motors, you just gotta pay more.

I was thinking of doing it on a 125cc motorbike. Thats adventure!!

If you guys want to do this and need another idiot, let me know, it's my speciality....

51 time Loser.

Re: any Mongol Rally spec vehicles in US?

I love/hate wikipedia. I go to look at the Mongol Rally page, next thing you know I've learned about:

the Budapest to Bamako rally,
the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge
the Cape Town Challenge

then I go to maps.google.com and find out that
1. Google maps works for Africa!
2 it is 14319 Km from Tangier Morocco to Cape Town South Africa.
