Pick Your Part, half off 9/4-9/7
There's a bonanza of good (non-engine) parts in a lot of yards now, thanks to Cash For Clunkers.
Does this include Pull-A-Part? This is what we have out here in the Carolinas. If it is, I need to take some vacation!
Dammit, I hate Michigan. We have standard old junkyards that charge 50% of new price for everything in the yard. They also do not let customers remove anything themselves and many won't even let the public into the yard. Walk up to the counter and tell Bubba what you need. He checks the computer and if they have a car that matches, he calls his the yard guy on the radio who then removes the part and brings it into the office. It might or might not be what you want and will cost you a bunch of money. They look up the dealer cost and divide by two. Even worse, most will not allow parts to be separated. You want a side mirror? You have to buy the whole door assembly. Don't even think about asking for a turbo of intake manifold. You are buying the complete engine for around $500.
I thought they had the "Parts Galore" self-service yard in Detroit, on 8 mile:

I'll have to look into that one. My other problem is that import cars are not exactly plentiful in Motown.
why oh why must i be flying to michigan this weekend!!!!!
Did you lose a bet? Hopefully, you don't have to go into Detoilet.
