For $250, you should have asked if she came with it. :-)

Too many clothes...

If I sell you her e-mail address, does that amount count towards my $500?

what have i got myself into?!?!?!?!?!?!?
And you would be WHO?!
i would be driver #4. my name is shadd.
never done one of these, but when asked... why the hell not!
have done quite a bit of performance rally, rally cross, auto cross, etc...
always wanted to drive thunderhill.
I was ever so hopefully you were said stumpet in the earlier picture...
Welcome to Lemons... welcome to the madness...
You're standard issue straight-jacket will be at the first door. Once you have it on you'll find a oversized gerbil dropper filled with whiskey inside you're cozy padded cell.
Thought about a Cherokee myself, as I've worked on one quite a bit.
Suspension is going to be a bit tricky, but there's some decent power there, and the unibody means relatively light weight for what's basically a truck.
With an auto tranny it won't be as much fun, but combined with the inline-6, you definitely have reliability down!
I saw an 89 cherokee 4x4 4.0L about 2 years ago now for $800 that had no such electrical issues so they couldn't be cheating -THAT- badly. The pic of the seller is delightfully distracting.
I wouldn't mind seeing more progress pics/video.
oh, an Altamont race had another Cherokee run but i think it died... so you're in good company!
The Jeep is being sprayed tonight (we hired two blind homeless midgets with brooms) after we prepped (bought a case of beer and a sheet of sandpaper...guess which one hadn't been touched in the morning) it for them last night.
Still no wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, cage, clue, or tow rig. This will be an epic race to the start line.

F.M.L.
That is all.

Dude, what's up? Jeep die?
Jeep, die? That's unpossible.
Everything else that could go wrong has, though. Everything from tires not showing up to a driver having to bail at the last minute. Paint turned out nice though.

oh, you're perfectly on track then. Lemons cars that get their paint done first have got their priorities straight!
Note the use of the license plate as a backing plate for the kill switch:

License plates are like race car Legos. Need a firewall patch? License plate! Need a radio bracket? License plate! Need a gauge holder? Plate it! Aerodynamic uber-effective time reducing spoiler? TX plate special, baby! Super cooling scoop of doom on the Capri-Stang? Three plates, held together by self tapping screws.
Lemons gold, baby.
Yup, no end to the uses of a license plate. Finally got the cage in tonight, turned out pretty decent. Not elegant, but it'll do the trick and it's legal (as far as I can tell). If anybody sees ant issues with the cage, please holler out. Before:

And just because welding pictures are cool:
Amazingly, we didn't shatter any glass and it only caught on fire twice!

Harness bar looks pretty close to the seat.
Harness bar looks pretty close to the seat.
The seat is on a slider, and all the way back.
That being said, I saw zero guidelines on the harness bar...what'd I miss? Thanks!

A lot of cars failed tech at MSR. Many for harness bar issues which are not very clearly defined.
From what I understand you need the seat to be far enough away from the bar for the metal parts of the harnesses to be far enough from the seat.
I am not completely sure, so send some clear pics to Nick and Jay for clarification.
Seat looks a little high relative to hoop.
Put your tallest drivers in the seat, make sure his HELMET is below the top of the main hoop.
Paint looks good!

Good feedback, thank you. I think the tallest driver is 5'10, so we should be okay.
Paint turned out way better than I expected...all we did was hit it with a sander for about 10 minutes, sprayed it (pin stripes, door handles, badges, and all, etc).

I love how you have to be a contortionist to get past the door bars and Front bar to get in the driver seat. that should be awesome to get past when the cherokee sets on fire.
on a less sarcastic note, I certainly hope you're going to get a removable steering wheel or do a LOT of practice getting in and out of the seat quickly.

Yeah, that was a miscommunication between the guy cutting tube and the guy bending tube. It's actually not too bad to get in and out of, but like I said, not exactly elegant. I could have easily put another bend in the leg to open that up, but wanted to keep it simple. Then the door bar design changed and that wasn't taken into consideration.
But again, it's not too awful to get in and our of and we're all pretty spry. Removable wheel is on the "we'd like to do it if we have enough time" list.
