Topic: CMP racers willing to install my GrilleCam, here's what you need

I've got a bullet camera and a cheap DVR, and I plan to install it in at least one car at CMP and get some on-track footage. Here's an example of the kind of video it gets, and here's another. Many of you have expressed a willingness to put the camera in your car, so here's what you'll need to have ready in order to do so.

1. Place to mount the camera somewhere in the front of the car, preferably low and behind the bumper. All it needs is a horizontal or vertical metal surface with room for a 1.5" diameter base. A few sheetmetal screws or bolts/nuts hold it in place.

2. A way of getting the camera cables (two RCA plugs) through the firewall. Ideally, this is a 1/2" or 3/4" ID grommeted hole.

3. A place to mount the DVR (see example of sophisticated bracket in photo above; I'll be using zipties rather than muffler clamps to attach it). Must be within a few feet of the firewall cable hole, so the cables reach.

4. 12V power supply near the firewall cable hole. Positive and negative wires, doesn't matter if they're ignition switched or not. Bonus points if you already have standard blade connectors on the wires (positive = female, negative = male), but I'll bring my connectors and a crimping tool.

5. A willingness to swap memory cards and batteries during pit stops. One memory card is good for about 45 minutes of video (my crapola DVR explodes if it sees an SD card bigger than 2GB).

This is unrelated to the timelapse still camera I plan to install on a few cars. For that, all you need to provide is a willingness to drill some sheetmetal screws into your car's body for the mounting bracket. We'll sort that out on Friday.

The Colt E was fully prepped for cameras last weekend.  I've got mine in the headlight box and on the rear hatch.  Plenty of room still on the bumpers for yours, and I've got the 12V hookup right below the dash bar on the passenger side.  As a bonus, I can throw in some deep fried turkey and smoked pork while you're hooking stuff up!

All right, just talk to me during BS inspection and we'll figure out which car(s) will get the camera during the weekend.
