Topic: Headsock/helmet-sock?

Howdy again,
Just checked the rules for the bajillionth time, this time for clarification about a headsock or helmet sock.  Boot socks (preferably Nomex) are mentioned.  So, any one out there willing to comment on this?

Much obliged.

Re: Headsock/helmet-sock?

I wear one...for what they cost and given the difficulty of cleaning helmet padding, WTH not? Another benefit is the ability to hold your earpiece in place while you don your helmet.

Re: Headsock/helmet-sock?

I picked up a single layer SFI head sock for less than $20 at a local speed shop.  It is cheap insurance.

Re: Headsock/helmet-sock?

I got a head sock for my first race. None of the other drivers on my team got a head sock. My main reason for the head sock was to keep my ears flat to my head when I put on the helmet. I had a hell of a time pushing my ears back up flat to my head with the helmet on. So, if you have ears that stick out, the sock is nice. Additionally, my helmet had the least amount of sweat as the sock absorbed most.

We had a bag of disposable ones... it was nicer than putting on a sweaty helmet.
