Topic: Fueling at Nelson Ledges, Does the track ...

Provide a fire extinguisher for us to use?

If not, we'd have to buy another or remove and replace the one in the car

Hoping there's one there for community use, I think this was the case at other events

Re: Fueling at Nelson Ledges, Does the track ...

At Stafford, the track safety guys would occasionally provide fire bottle support for refueling.  If they weren't around, we had to do it ourselves.   Most road courses are much less accommodating.

Buy a bottle at your local hardware emporium (or liberate one from work) because you do not want to deal with pulling a hand held out of the car then reinstalling it.  A bottle with 10lb of media (not a 10 rating) will satisfy the refueling requirements of most organizations and tracks.  I believe a 10lb dry chem will run your $50 to $100.

EDIT:  It looks like you can get one for $50 or less shipped on Ebay.

We're $50'd out, but thanks ... hoping to find out if we do not have to buy one

Per Jay:

"The track will have big bottles near the fuel area, but each team needs its own hand bottle right there while they're fueling.  Are you saying you can't afford to buy a ten-pound ABC extinguisher from Home Depot for $13? Umm...how are you planning to eat?"

LOL ... so good news it doesn't need to be a big, bad ass fire extinguisher, just a 10 pounder ABC rated
