Re: 24 Hours of ECR--is it too soon to talk about it?
Whats an apex?
Is it like those seals that fly out of our engines at velocity?

like any Lemons worthy rotary still has apex seals in it....
wait....there are apex markers at ECR?
that explains sooo much about my line.....
There's a race for that other series this weekend at ECR which will go from 9a to 9p, I will be there to cheer the fairmont wagon guys on... So ECR will have some experience with crapcans in the darkness. I'll report observations.

I'm going to head up and check out the lighting and how others have thiers setup.

Right on, see you out there.
Y'all sure about those times? I was thinking about doing some recon as well, but the schedule I looked up for the "other" series shows a Saturday event from 9 am to 7 pm...

The forums describe differently.
Looks like we are going to need to have lots of lights. I talked to a couple drivers after they had been out in the dark, they could see the reflective markers pretty well, and they said there are a couple you can't see till its too late.
Over all, it looked like a blast. I would like to see some marker lights on the rear of cars, there were a couple cars you couldn't see if they hadn't had headlights, or were on the brakes.
Well, Lemons still doesn't have the lights regs up on the events page, but I'm pretty sure that the other overnight events require at least one taillight in addition to the brake light(s).

You're right, Pat, that for each of the recent overnights there was a requirement for at least one taillight, but I'm also thinking of adding some side-markers, reflectors, or a Hong Norrth-esque LED strip to the back & sides of the cars just in case someone gets sideways in a bad spot.
After attending the other race at ECR this weekend, I have a thought for rules consideration... the lights must be securely mounted such that they don't move more than the body itself is moving. One of the drivers I talked to said that other cars' lights with poor mounts caused a pretty bad strobe light effect... plus it can't really help the driver in that car much either.

I agree completly. There were some very nice lighting setups out there, and some very terrible ones too. That white car that had the floppy center light was rediculous. There was another car that had one light pointing up in the sky, I guess they wanted to spotlight airplanes.
so we raced back in december of last year and we are already signed up, do they decide after the deadline who gets in and who doesnt? I would like to know soon weather we are going to be racing or not.
they don't decide until after the deadline. normally you'll get an email the Monday or Tuesday after the deadline, according to where they were the weekend of the deadline.
Yes - after the deadline (I think 10 weeks before the race) you'll get an email telling you what your status is. I've only been in one race but that is how it work in for YeeHaw.
I haven't seen the kinda numbers it would take to have a waitlist in the Texas races, at least not in the last year or two.
BenzGay is out for ECR.

duhhdum............... duhhhdom....... Domination...
We've registered for ECR, I'm trying to convince Team Car-B-Q to come as well since they're down that way, but they're in the middle of some "maintainance" at the moment. It's about a 13 hour drive for us, but I've convinced my team ECR is worth it. I love the blind turns on that track
BTW... does anyone know why the # 8 is never available at races? It's blocked out or something. Just curious!
Team Mello Yello will be there and on TWITTER
Be sure and follow Team Mello Yello Thunderbird on Twitter @511Team for the next Texas race at Eagles Canyon. We will be posting before, during and after the race.
Thanks!

Weren't they only for the Christmas Time Race last year at ECR?
Any idea how many cars they will let race on a 24hour event? Lots seem to registered, and would love to see em all out there. I love traffic on a track, I blame my add.
Also, why would a team be denied?
