Topic: OK, so firewalls...

I had someone mention to me at NL that having our engine cover off is a violation of the rules since there is no longer a barrier/firewall between the engine and the driver.

So does the engine need to be completely encased or can we continue to run with the engine cover off?

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Even if you can, I'm surprised you'd want to.  I lobbied to keep my glass rear window because it's a fire barrier.

You can't have a straight path from the engine compartment to the driver. You'd be surprised how fire can find its way through every little gap in a firewall to burn your toes off (or in the case of an MR2, your head). Either leave the stock lid on or create some kind of solid (probably not just glass) barrier in the back window area.
