Re: Let's clear up this bribes thing
My favorite bribe from this race was the Resistol camel-hair cowboy hat that I wore all weekend, courtesy of the #3 green GTI.
That was pretty sweet.
I really dug the Cigar Caddy.
oh, and the effing Caddy Caddy!

There did not seem to be any effect of the bribe on the safety inspector, but there did seem to be some inconsistency of cage requirements. I totally understand the inspectors desires for us to have proper cages, installed correctly. I like my head, and plan to keep it in its current location/configuration. We have a very nice cage in our car. If you can't afford to bribe and get a good cage, spend the money on the cage!
There were some cages that passed inspections in Houston that looked like rolling death traps (used cages, transplanted into the cars with sections added to the main hoop to provide adequate height), while other, fairly solid cages were dinged (for having the rear braces mounted too low on the main hoop). This did make me a bit curious about if there was one "tough judge" and an "easy judge" or if some guys were rolling through tech with the Good old boy system.

Pretty much any rule set of any sanctioning body mandates the main hoop be one CONTINUOUS piece. Any cage that doesn't meet this most BASIC requirement should get an immediate fail IMO, but I've seen them passed.
The judges are in our thoughts.
We won't disappoint....
