Well, at least the battery isn't rusted through.  I have a spare FC drivetrain for the Mazdarita laying around.  Any thought of this has to wait until after Sears Point.

I have some sentiment towards the RX2.  This will date me but here's an old scanned polaroid of my ride in high school

Yep.  My Senior year ride.  Dad made us pay our own way from early on so I bought, sold and worked my way up.  First car was a 6cyl Nova with a blown head gasket when I was 15.  Somebody should have stopped me from acquiring cars at that point.  I've always operated under the philosophy that it's better to have several marginally operating interesting cars than 1 boring reliable one so I bought an Austin America for $150.  Drove it home 11 miles with no brakes other than the handbrake.  Sold it and bought a Datsun 1600 roadster with a bad water pump when I was 16.  Somewhere in there I bought a scirrocco that had been in a head-on and fixed that.  62 VW Notchback was next then my buddy had this RX2 with a blown apex seal.  Car was completed stripped on the interior but the cage had been removed.  Rebuilt the engine and put a JY interior in it.  Actually, rebuilt it several times as Racing Beat was a small unknown company at that point and they would sell me their castoff dyno pieces for cheap.  Hadn't touched a rotary between then and when we built the Mazdarita a couple years ago.  This picture was right after it got painted at 1 Day paint and before I had the chance to prang it up.  That car must have made an impression on people as they still ask about it 30+ years later.  I thought I was hot stuff outrunning the cops and such on the roads in the local hills.  Went up to Mulholland a couple of times and just got absolutely smoked.  That was kind of demoralizing until a couple years ago I came across a thread on the Pelican Parts forum about Mulholland.  There were guys there on race tires, with race cars (2.8L 911's, etc) and knew the road well enough to run it with no lights at night.  Sheesh.

I can't wait to see this thing on track!

If you can make an FD survive in Lemons, it should say something about the reliability of these cars in general (Or Not?)

The blue truck is Apex Vinyl's.

They have raced Lemons in Houston several times.   Its been a skateboard ramp, a Sucker Car (Truck),  The Coors Hauling Semi from Smokey and the Bandit, Optimus Prime, and I think its a Cars Movie Theme now.

Really cool place and really cool people.

Re: TEAM SENSORY ASSAULT brings you THE ULTIMATE LEMON

Ummmm....

Windshield:   No way could we ever get a glass windshield into the car.   They are pretty expensive for the FD and we are cheap bastards.   Besides, the windshield frame is rusted and bent to hell from the fire.    Sooooo, we went the Home Depot Racing and Deveopment route.    Bought a sheet of Lexan and got to work   Looks quite LeMony from the outside but not so bad from the inside.

Roof:   I'm the short guy on the team at 6'3".   Even in my street driven FD my head hits the roof.  No way could we get in with helmets.   Apex Vinyl built the cage outside the roof lines to fit our monkey asses inside the car.  I wanted to run with mesh on the roof (aka Iroc Maiden BBQ Grill Style) but Chuck bitches if he gets wet.   Chuck built the sheet metal roof.
