Topic: New Thunderhill Get-Out-Of-Jail Opportunity

Just a heads up--if your Thunderhill race car breezes through safety tech, you might be awarded with a Get-Out-Of-Penalty-Free card!

So if you've been looking for an excuse to solidify your seat mount, fix your cage welds, etc....there you go.

We were the pilot car for Buttonwillow tech...so here's hoping nothing has changed! smile

Re: New Thunderhill Get-Out-Of-Jail Opportunity

I'll be sure to double check the Toyota's and Lexi have their floor mats properly ziptied in place per factory specs.  Wouldn't want to create a hazardous condition.

PS.  FreeRange, see if you can get some sponsorship from http://www.bigassfans.com.  They have a good sense of humor about themselves and would probably get a kick out of your new setup.  As a mechanical engineer it has been my goal to design a project with these spec'd out and a storage facility I am working on now currently calls for them.  I can't wait to have them build the damn thing so I can say, "Yes, my design has big ass fans."

PPS. GOOD LUCK to everyone finishing things up in the final weeks.  I'll see yall in tech and am sure I'll find something wrong with everyone.  wink

Re: New Thunderhill Get-Out-Of-Jail Opportunity

Wow, I'd of thought there would be a lot more interest in this..  We are going to award a couple of GOOJF cards to teams that bring cars that are clean and safe. The tech inspectors will decide which cars are in the running.

So, with less than a week to go: check those welds, are they 360 degrees?, is your interior de-scuzzified? are there holes in your firewall?   Re-read the rules and bring us a safe car, lets up the percentage of cars that pass the first time through.

Gosh, my business card says 'Tech Tyrant'

We are definitely interested in this. We always aim to breeze through tech for the time factor but the the GOOJF cards are an added bonus.

Re: New Thunderhill Get-Out-Of-Jail Opportunity

It would be nice to have a couple of examples of well-prepped cars to show the clueless teams why they're getting bounced out of the tech inspection, so it's definitely worth handing out a few GOOJF cards to get that.

Assuming the 928 runs & passes inspection...I would volunteer for this.... BUT we need to have a running car AND pass tech....quite a hurdle....given the car didn't run yesterday

I saw Trekkor's Escort (The Filthy) yesterday and I think it would be a pretty good example of how to do it right (assuming he's willing). Nice welds, clean bends (thanks to Evil Genius), a well mounted seat, sorted belts, and a functioning kill switch.

I thought those were just decorations.

Trekkor is going to be too depressed by the weight of the 777,777 penalty laps we're going to give that showroom-condition Escort to care about getting out of jail free.

Yes, you have a point there. 700,000+ penalty laps has got to be some kind of record. I suppose if you can't win you may as well lose in style!

Re: New Thunderhill Get-Out-Of-Jail Opportunity

Is there some kind of award for most penalty laps?

We are not planning on running the test day (yeah we really are that dumb) so we'd be happy to leave it in your hands if we pass tech at the first attempt.
