Topic: Driving to Bend, OR from Bay Area, CA and back on Saturday 4/13

Very excited to pickup a car tomorrow from Bend, OR. The car works and hopefully can make it all the way.
I got a "OH HELL YES!" from Judge Phil so I hope it will work out!
Any recommendations on tasty food to visit on our way there and back.

Pilot Butte up in Bend used to be my "go-to" for fries (!) and burgers when I went to Bend every year-or-so.  It's just southwest of the cindercone east of town, on Highway 20.

Dunsmuir has a good brewery, too - Dunsmuir Brewery Works.

Oh, and definitely make a spare hour or two and hit up the Oregon Logging Museum (Collier State Park) halfwayish between Chemult and Klamath Falls.

Don't speed through Weed!

The car wouldn't happen to be a Starion/Conquest, would it?

X100.  I've seen as many as four CHP  working I-5  in and around Weed. I thought my radar detector had lost its mind.

What route are you taking?

Driving by Crater Lake is highly recommended.

No it is not!

Haven't figured out what route yet. Kind of just going to do it live! But I will keep that in mind.

And thanks for the reminder on driving slow. We definitely are going to take our time driving back.

If you've never seen it, it's definitely worth a stop.

Bend Brewing Company has decent food, IIRC, but I'm positive that the beer was good. Right off Greenwood, down by the river.

And don't forget about Deschutes Brewing Company...

Also, I recall the longest straight road I've been on is the one west from 97 up towards the north entrance to Crater Lake - seemingly at least six miles, probably more like 10 - and since it's naturally all slightly uphill you can see all the way to its end.  Top speed run, anyone?

Thanks for the suggestions! We didn't have as much time as we had hoped but we stopped by a couple micro-breweries there.
The car made it back to the Bay Area minus a little oil leaking. We don't have the funds or time to get it ready for Buttonwillow (plus we have to dismantle/part out the 300zx) and my wedding is the weekend of Thunderhill so we are aiming for Chuckwalla maybe.

A WRX?  Nice!  Seems a little nice for Lemons, but who am I to argue.

So what's the problem?   I'm sure that Jay or Judge Phil would be happy to officiate.

An RX turbo? Wow! Talk about rare. Nice work; it looks clean too.

Hah! As much as my fiancee likes Lemons (and is cool with me keeping 2 racecars at our place), she'd rather get married at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. smile

It is supposed to be a Turbo but some previous owner either swapped in the NA version of an EA82 or they deleted the Turbo (and so its setup as an NA with lower 7:1 compression pistons >_>). I found a TD04 Turbo on Ebay for $75 but finding an Up-pipe & Down-pipe may be a bit harder.
And while our end-game is to swap in an EJ22 or EJ25, we wanted to try and race a few with this engine.

Other than the non-existent turbo, car seems good. A few rust holes here and there. Bouncy suspension.

Sounds fishy to me.
