Pere Ubu's "Dark" is a good AM-radio-in-your-hooptie-at-4:00-AM song.

Soul Coughing's "Screenwriter's Blues" feels like being awake on the 405 for 27 hours straight.

Atomic Bitchwax's "Last of the V8 Interceptors" doesn't have any (decipherable) car-themed lyrics, but the title should be enough.

We've all heard ZZ Top's "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide 47 billion times, but it remains one of the greatest car-themed songs ever.

Speaking of overplayed Baby Boomer rock, Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot" is a good car song.

You can't go wrong with Jello Biafra and the Melvins' anti-SUV anthem.

There's endless early-60s surf rock with drag-racing themes, e.g. "427 Super Stock."

And, of course, there's "Ulcer Breakout" by my favorite band, the Butthole Surfers.
