Topic: Wisconsin is beer heaven!

Now tell me where to exploit this en route to RA from Chicago.  I plan to drop a substantial chunk of of my overtime earnings to stuff I can't easily find in Northwest Indiana.  I want to bring home at least two cases of mixed so that probably means I need to buy about 4 quadrillion...or at least six...to make it through the weekend.

Must-try recommendations also welcome.  I am not a mega-uber-painfully bitter hop head nor do I love the lambics or super fruity bears.  DIPA's if not over the top...yes.  Russian Imperial Stouts...check.

The two breweries that come to mind off the top of my head are New Glarus

and

The Brat Stop used to have a pretty decent selection of Wisconsin Beers, plus cheese curds and obviously Bratwursts.

This place is looking promising if a bit out of the way.

Point actually has pretty wide distribution nowadays, but if you come across some, I'd recommend picking up some of their 2012 Black Ale.

I like New Glarus "Spotted Cow"    http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.c … potted-cow
& "Two Women"  http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.c … /two-women
& "Totally Naked"  http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.c … ally-naked

This summer when visiting I brought back $300 worth of New Glarus in my Jeep.  It is almost gone & I'm sad.
Only available within the Wisconsin state borders.

Oh yeah, one thing about buying New Glarus--make sure the stuff you buy is refrigerated, and preferably from a place that sells a lot of it. I've been burned buying New Glarus as I was passing through WI only to find it was old and skunky when I got home.

Sprecher in Milwuakee. They were down near the lake (east side) north of down town, but I think they moved to a bigger location.

Re: Wisconsin is beer heaven!

New Glarus is an easy one to try Spotted Cow and Totally naked were already listed and are both good.  Another good beer from them is their IPA Moon Man.

Fixed Gear from Lakefront Brewery is a good Red ale.

Ambergeddon and Hopalicious by Ale Asylum are two that I would recommend to try.  Those are from Madison and I don't know what available up by Road America as I am a Southern Wisconsinite.

I searched and searched - but no Lone Star.

Wisconsin is more like Beer Purgatory.

Lone Star is only appropriate as an accompaniment to some cheap bourbon.
