It was not a comment on the fine, fine Gallic piece of loveliness, it was a comment on the poor things current condition.  Beat to hell, rusty, left rear wheel has about 18 deg negative camber, engine knocks(badly), etc.  Please, no offense intended.  I'll go smoke a Galois, and whip myself with a loaf of the finest french bread I can find.

80's BMW 6 series with a chicken living in it.

I have an irrational urge to make a 5-speed Volvo 940 Turbo for a commuter car, or a Lemon.

Its just parts swapping and drilling one hole.  Must be a wagon, though.

For me, I drive past a first gen GTI daily and dream of it being a 2.0L 16V frankenGTI.  It is rust free but only because it is assembled from different body panels that have all be rattle-canned white...and not the same white.  I know it moves, just not sure oif it does so under its own power.

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

I saw a new 650i.  Pretty sweet looking, and I'll just pretend that it was probably a 6-speed.

I plan to run one in the 2038 Lemons season.

There is a Volvo P544 in a nearby junkyard that I have coveted for almost 2 years. Now Phil has gone and put it on "the list." If I didn't already have 2 cars bubbling away on the stove for next year and the year after (plus part of another one, and maybe a 4th if Mulvey ever figures out what he's going to do with the Maser and/or longroof Benz), I'd snap up that 544 and make it go.

I drive by a 2002 every day.  The owner said I could have it for free.  It's been 2 1/2 years since he committed.  Now there are 2 of them.

I've been offered  a free 2002 and a free Scirocco and a free 89 Buick Century in the last two weeks alone. My mom wants me to take her '82 320. I already gave away the 85 S-10 Tahoe Edition that a friend gave to me.
People hear that I do Lemons and they fall over themselves to give me stuff that runs (mostly) but has been clogging up their driveways for one reason or another. Unfortunately, I don't have room for any of the cars because I want them all.

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

Currently have managed to collect a couple Le Car, A 72 Vega a Saab 900 Turbo. The Saab runs. Sorta. When it feels like it. Have plenty other daily driver stuff that could theoretically be made into Lemons....this in addition to the already running Marlin....Which needs some serious brake upgrades

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

I think we're going to build a second car to compete with and how I want to find something old and begging for a crazy change in everything

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

I will say that having a older, oddball, unusual and just flat out strange-ass car makes the BS judges smile. Things go MUCH nicer with smiling judges.
As for crazy changes in everything YES!  Our Rambler Has a Camaro front suspension, Jaguar independent rear suspension, A 454 Chevy Bigblock set back a couple of feet...(really).. Has a 50/50 weight balance. All built from total junkyard crap. And a metric F-Load of creativity. Is Hella fun. Ask Anton. Or Youtube  SPEEDHOLES  WRENCHING ANTON DRIVING. The ol beater does pretty good for itself.

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

We are in the market for a second car to create

Re: What did you drive around and see today that would be a next car

Somehow, building junk like this is something I have done for years.....Now I just have a actual reason to do it and use them to have fun.....legally.... By all means build something damn cool! If ya build a old AMC the Judges are more likely to overlook/ignore Injected/supercharged/Bigblock Chevies/ Jag suspension etc. Also helps when the talent pool is a bunch of C class drivers in a B class kinda car. Phil has only classed it in B once with no penalties ever. Otherwise has always been classed in C where we have never come close to winning. We aren't really trying either. The car is legit fast....the team effort.....yah, we do 45 min driver change/ fuel stops. All that rushing around makes me all tired....
