Topic: Lemons withdrawls

Nobody warned me.

I'm all tore up. Scouring the interwebs for video and images of our race.

Every old car I see on the side of the road is either a racer or a cheater.
Why am I seeing so many Nissan Z's right now?!?

Thanks,

KT

Re: Lemons withdrawls

i find the best cure for my withdrawl is to be constantly build around 3 different Lemons cars at once with an impossible deadline, it keeps the "hunger" low, but i do wake up in the middle of the night itching to get back to the shop and start welding.

If only there was a cheaper and cleaner alternative.  Hey when is the 24hrs of Lemons Video game coming out for PS3? LOL

Re: Lemons withdrawls

I'm already looking for a back-up car.

Plymouth Valiant
Dodge Dart
Karmann Ghia
Porsche 914
VW bus
Nissan/Datsun Z ( Hi Jonny! )
any six or eight cylinder car

I have a Porsche 2.7 motor in my shed that I could fiddle with.
Also have access to a free SBC.

With a $250 residual value on 'filthy', a junkyard trans and an oil change gets us back on  track...

So many options.

Then there's my 'free' 1983 BMW 320i that my wife drives.
I'm buying a $500 '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a friend that is moving back to Hawaii...

What to do?!?

Re: Lemons withdrawls

How 'bout a FAST 914 team? put that 2.7 in a free rusty tub and find a sideshift that isn't destroyed?

I've got a line on a 'Vette for (no BS) $500 that I'm SERIOUSLY considering buying.  It's SO Lemons...I think I might have a problem.

The off-season is all about rebuilding and dreaming of next year.  Thank god for it because we don't have the time to re-prep all these cars without it!

As far as back up cars there really are not any rules. The only car you can
race at the track is the one you entered and paid the fees on and passed inspection. All other So Called back up cars are really parts cars or cars for future races after your main racer Pukes its guts on the track.

We had a driver who raced on multiple teams. Did not work out very well because he was never around when we needed people for pitstops, mechanicals, etc...

Team Formula BMW
Finishing order: 44th, 44th, 19th, 10th, 5th, 10th, 5th

Re: Lemons withdrawls

I keep teasing my friends on the Big EASY 914 team about putting a 3.6 from a 993 in the car.  They say having a 275-horsepower 914 is a surefire way to get crushed.  A 2.7, however, strikes a nice balance between the original 2-liter and the curse-bait 3.6...

Re: Lemons withdrawls

I'd have to fab up a custom intake for my 2.7 that would allow the use of a 4bbl carb!

The Big Easy car had three strikes against it:
Tall ride height
Narrow tires
Low power

I loved seeing it out there and felt sorry every time we passed it...

Re: Lemons withdrawls

The cure for Lemons Withdrawal is the acquisition of a super-crazy Lemons project car that takes you and your friends 6 months of non-stop work to finish. That way you'll be participating in Lemons every waking moment!

funny you should mention that... There is a 59 Anglia up the street from my house that keeps getting cheaper and cheaper..

Re: Lemons withdrawls

I don't know for sure, but it's possible that Lemons has caused a second personality to surface in me.

One that is trying to justify a way to turn *every* car I see into a Lemons racer.
Even my current non track cars...And friend's cars.

Not good.

Fixed the quote for you.

I hear ya. Looking at cars in a whole new light now. (no interior, roll cage, theme, numbers, etc.)

Re: Lemons withdrawls

I have a team mate that has a 56 Buick with a nail head just sitting hear wasting away. His girl says no way, what a wimp. I'm wondering if he is really Lemons material.
