Re: Gonna Squeeze this lemon - Any advice?

Arggh, just realized we have a family vacation already paid for on that weekend.  OK, looks like we'll be Goin' for Broken!

You DO realize you're entering an ENDURANCE race with a 7M car, right?

The 7M has to be in the top 25 worst engines of all time. A lot of people will tell you that the head gasket issues can be overcome. These people are not to be trusted.

I think when our engine finally goes we'll slap a SHO in just for fun.  Maybe even a Z motor.  SBC just doesn't seem right.

That's pretty funny that you mentioned that. Here is my Cressida with a VG swap from a Z31, over 420hp at the moment.

Aside from the turbo, this was a SUPER easy swap to do.

Re: Gonna Squeeze this lemon - Any advice?

Group,
We have a 3SGTE engine in our Celica.  I can't say the engine is reliable since we have only made about 57 laps in two races.   I am guessing that the last time we lost a head or gasket since we were hearing knocks and ther was a lot of oil around the spark plugs.
Do you feel there is any advantage in torqueing the head tighter?   We are lucky that we have found extra engines very cheap.   Sometimes wrecking yards are desparate.

Good luck at Sears Pointless!   Look for the Celica with the Moonshine Still on top!
