Topic: Snell question

Does Snell 2005 = SA2005 or are those different ratings?  I guess I want to know if this helmet is Lemons legal.

If it doesn't have 2 doors, 3 pedals, and 5 lug nuts per wheel - It isn't a real race car

Re: Snell question

Yes you need a SA rated they are car- fire proofed Auto helmets.
You cant use a M 2005,  this is a motorcycle helmet.

EuroTrash E30 - Lemons South 08 (cooling probs) 24th /CMP  Spring 09 (fuel tank damage) one day on track 69th /Lemons South 09 (Hit by an Escort) 27th
MSR Tx, 10 2oth, no issues other than rain. /CHump Homestead Miami 10- 2nd place.

Re: Snell question

SA means "special application" (racing only, not legal for street use)  2005 is simply the year it conformed to the SNELL standard.  You need an SA designated helmet, if you see a DOT sticker on it, it isn't an SA helmet.

There are dual compatibility helmet (SA 200x & DOT M), Pyrotect's lowest SA helmets meet DOT requirements.

Keep in mind that a gun pointed at your face superglued to a Harlet branded bandana  would meet DOT regs for helmet safety.

Re: Snell question

Djcommie,

I never knew of dual compatibility helmets because typically the eye openings on SA helmets are to small for DOT approval. I guess you learn something new everyday.
