Topic: yet another cage question

After read alot of post about cages and changes to the rule I still have a question.  There is no spacing requirements for the 2 driver side door bars?  Can a bar run along the floor of the drivers door count.  Like this  http://www.creativeracingtechnologies.c … &pos=2

Thanks,

If it doesn't have 2 doors, 3 pedals, and 5 lug nuts per wheel - It isn't a real race car

Re: yet another cage question

In theory, that should pass because of the lack of door bar specifics in the rules.  Of course, a tech guy who hates drag race cages might see things differently.  Do yourself a favor and run a 3rd bar about 12 to 18 inches above that floor bar or diagonally from near the floor on the main hoop to somewhere above the floor on the A pillar bar.  Either of those additional bars will virtually guarantee you will not be hassled about door bars at tech.

Re: yet another cage question

I asked Nick about this a while back, and as DFL said, it meets the letter of the rule, but not the intent.

Re: yet another cage question

Buy the extra tubing, notch it with a grinder if you have to, and add door bars evenly spaced up to the sill of your regular door.

Why would you want to bother screwing around with the nuances of the rules?
