Did you not see...he has his own 24 x 8.5' condo now...

Wally will be holding court and expecting bacon tributes in style from here on out.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

I wasn't aware of the new digs for Wally.

I agree, Brett.  I'll shoot for the same area on Thursday.

Fireball Racing - ‘67 Ford Fairlane and ‘73 Saab Sonett

I've lost a lot, but the Fairlane finally won an IoE.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

Team Bad Decisions now has TWO ready-as-they-will-ever-be vehicles.

The van did its semi-legal test drive and passed almost everything with flying colors (brakes need another round of bleeding).  Oil pressure is nice to have, too.  If we set fire to or melt any calipers this time I am just dousing the whole thing in our remaining fuel and putting a match to it.

The Saturn Roadster needed a new cluster again for the same burnt trace they all seem to get and the $45 battery is finally toast after 3 years (so it go my Volvo's old battery).

I think we may have to have a "guess the theme" contest Thursday night as both the Dustbuster and Roadster are a little lame/obscure.

Wally's condo is back and whole.  Console TV and VCR are already loaded in it and the paddock sectional goes in this weekend...oh, and the car eventually.

Be prepared for TWO classes of utter Domination from the team unable to win anything but IoE!

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

One Lap for Dogs will be there with the red "Big Balls" 2.slow, with spare wheel bearings this time... Also, new decor.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

I'm bringing spare wheel bearings and a press.  The purple escort seems to go through wheel bearings quicker than it should.

I will be joining you, Mike, for Star Wars on Thursday night.  Bring enough beer for me.

It appears the van may be the same way but luckily they are unitized hubs.  Unluckily, they ain't cheap.  Think we might be getting two races out of rears (maybe) and about 24 hours total out of fronts...assuming we do not cook them with a molten caliper.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

What hubs are you using?  I think its the same hub as the ciera and it went 4 races plus its entire life on the road before one went bad, and that was with the help of someone shoving us pretty hard into the grass.  Oh wait you have abs, which would make them different

I know the splines at least are different from your car on the front because our spline ends are like 3/8" larger (I think).  The rears are probably the same because why would GM have accounted for the greater mass of the van in something so trivial as a wheel bearing.

The ABS part might actually be contributing to the failure as the rear caps are plastic (housing the sensor)...sometimes molten plastic.  We no longer have ABS but I am pretty sure we cannot downgrade the hubs up front to the pre-ABS hubs.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

my fronts correspond with Silhouettes from 90-91 and I think yours match up with the later cieras so I really think its just the plug for the abs, so what brand are you using?  I went with Timkin and they seem to be holding up well, although I didn't lower and mess with the camber all too much, which could be making a difference too.

Also looks like the non abs is cheaper.

I am not sure you have been committed yet but I am sure you are barely a step ahead of the guys with the straight jackets.

Looking forward to seeing you at the track and if you did not get Wally's email, he has demanded a slab of bacon so consider that my pre-order.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

I'll take a slab too on the condition that you cook it for me.

It's really hard to answer that question with a straight face.

If you were Kate Upton in a bikini serving me greasy, delicious bacon at a racetrack, the answer would be totally different.  But, since I know you and I've seen the superman underoos outside of pants, I'm not sure how to answer.

We'll figure it out at the track, if that's ok with you.  I can't eat the entire slab, of course, so I'll share it with my neighbors,

Soggy has secured a bevy of AWESOME VHS tapes for our viewing pleasure on the console TV.

Let's just say, Spaceballs is not the only Mel Brooks movie to be onsite once the bacon GOD appears.

I guess I need to put my generator back together to make sure we can actually power to hi-tech entertainment center.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

Anyone contacted the track for Thursday entrance time?  I have to call them on an issue with my TnT registration anyway just not wanting to bother them too much if we already have an answer.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

I contacted the track about a month ago.  They said tnt participants in at 5pm.

Re: October Joliet Race - Who's coming?

Wally's condo is 95% packed.  I think I might have over bought with a 24' trailer but it means even enroute, should we choose to do more distant races, there is a space to sleep when fully packed.  At least with just the Saturn on board.  The van and spare sub frame might actually fill it.

Getting excited!
