Topic: First-Ever Lemons Corvette... and we gave it zero BS laps!
It is the Most Horrible Corvette In The World, but it's still a Corvette. Will have some photos later.

Wondering when that would happen... I look forward to seeing how horrible it is...
Look out for flash floods and tornados... heard they lost all their tents at the Scottsdale Auctions.
At least they have a killer rear suspension to put in something else if they don't wad it up.
nice. to paraphrase RobL: pics or it didn't happen.
How many cars are at the race? How are the ground after all that weather?

It's on jalopnik now:
I'm claiming it
Love it. It's either going to kick ass or fail in a spectacular fashion.
fan-f'ing-tastic!

Even if it explodes on the first lap, it will have kicked ass. Lemons Corvette!
Yay for the first to meet the challenge of 'Vette!!
I can't wait to hear how it does. I am betting it will survive much longer than most people think. It might even be a bit fast.
That is hot. I just wish they would have "themed" it more. Tape C4 explosives to it? Corvette Summer hood?
nice........ but the "german" corvette was 1st :>)
Well, our initial assessment was correct: that Corvette really is one of the worst cars in Lemons history. It ran maybe a half-dozen laps today, and was completely uncontrollable while it was running. We're hoping the team will get it sorted out for tomorrow, but we're not betting on it.
Awwww Damn! I was rooting for it!

congrats to Chevy for racking up two "worst Lemons car" awards.
The Corvette is now dead. We'll see it at Sears Pointless, though. Low residual value!

Sweet.....I look forward to more fiberglass all over the track....since I'm guessing the 951 with flared (now broken) fenders is gone?
Not just flared fenders but a complete 1 piece lift off fiberglass front end!!!!! You should have seen the look on the guys faces when my team told told them that they were going to probably get crushed if they didn't accept the penalty laps. You could tell they clearly had never heard of that happening. My favorite line of theirs was "we sold the factory Porsche wheels so we should have that money counted towards their purchase price." Then the judges reminded them that they replaced their wheels with corvette wheels!
I was a disappointed to see it pit after every lap... fuel problems, to the best of my knowledge. Something to do with the fuel cell they used, so Chevy may (sadly) not be to blame here.

I'm on the vette team - weekend was mostly a failure for getting the car working but...
1) Serious rod-knock developed from 20 laps (something to look into...)
2) Injection system only works at idle, under load it cuts out, sputters, and has pressure drops
We're thinking of throwing an old carb on - anyone know how to sort Gremlins on the old EFI? Injectors pulse fine, MAF reads fin, TPS reads fine, coolant temp. We can't figure out what it is for the life of us.
I've heard Mustang 24lbs injectors don't ahve the same 'fuel shut' that the GM units can have, is there any truth?
2) Injection system only works at idle, under load it cuts out, sputters, and has pressure drops
Seems like something is clogged? If you're using a fuel cell do you have fuel cell foam? And if so do you have any kind of screen or filter before your fuel pump? My understanding (from the Great Pendejo) is that most OEM type high pressure fuel pumps will fail VERY quickly due to tiny bits of fuel cell foam unless there is an appropriate filter or screen in place.
Hmmm... but just ditching everything and putting on a carb does sound tempting.
Foam and filter are in place - fuel pressure is fine - we've been through 2 pumps. It just randomly loses the fuel pump altogether....then kicks back on. Voltage is 12-14V at the pump...
