Actually, if you take a HPDE course, most will teach you that in racing, you'll do a lot better if you keep both hands on the steering wheel....in any car, at all times, with manual or automatic tranny....you'll have better control of the car, be able to manage higher speeds, and be able to make avoidance maneuvers in case of accidents or near misses, drive safer, etc.
