Topic: Clarification on '6.3: Why Am I Upside-Down?'
If someone wrecks me resulting in me being upside-down, am I banned?
If it should move and doesn't, use WD-40.
If those don't work, its BROKE!

The car is definitely out for the weekend.
I am not sure how or if they enforce the 1 year ban.
"6.3: Why Am I Upside-Down? Rule: You're upside-down because you have no business being out on a racetrack. Any driver who puts a car on its roof is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately. Any car that rolls during a race will be removed from the race."
The bold text above gives Jay and the boys some wiggle room without having to break their own rules or annoy an underwriter. If a Spec Piñata driver in an Impala decides to brake only after pushing your rear bumper past your rear shock mounts as you turn in for turn 1 putting you in the dirt and on your roof, I would consider said Spec Piñata driver the person who rolled your car, not you.
I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV. Your mileage may vary. Whining and/or screaming about how it is not your fault will certainly not help your case. Good luck pleading this argument with Jay.
EDIT: Pardon the Spec Miata driver bashing. They are just an easy target here.

Just don't put your car on its roof. Even at the race with the most flipped cars (the recent Gator-O-Rama) only 4 cars out of 122 flipped. It's hard to flip a car. Even if you drive slightly stupid, you shouldn't get on your roof. Driving hella stupid gets you on your roof.

i was more concerned about someone putting me on my roof. when i race, i don't plan on going over 55mph.....just a nice leisurely stroll
There are no gray areas here, so you trackside lawyers can cease and desist. If a car rolls over (i.e., past 90 degrees), whoever was driving is done for the season, regardless of "fault."

Thanks.
That's what I thought.

i think he was doing about 30 ~ 35 when he flipped
He also wasn't driving hella stupid, or even stupid
Sometimes life sucks. Get a helmet. Oh, wait-you already have one. Well then you should be prepared for life sucking.
It's not fair that the Escort driver is out for the year, but rules are rules.

I agree, but I've seen a lot of other things that could be considered "unfair" as well.
Jay makes the rules, and since we play in his sandbox, he gets to decide what is fair...or not.

We know that's not true, vis-a-vis the Schumacher taxi.... I was right behind them, and it was just an odd happenstance resulting in asymptoic instability and a flip. I'm sure they didn't get any sort of ban.....

Driver was banned for the season. Car was out for the race even though I could have recertified the cage and replaced the broken distributer cap (and other small broken items).
Jay came over and asked who was driving and wrote down his name.

No kidding... that seems kinda nuts. Verified he was out for the year? I guess that's why you have all these other "series" popping up. Plenty of venues to race these days...

We joke about it.

Wait I'm not supposed to see a continous line a daylight from under the car's side?!
EDIT... so... on it's side doesn't get the car banned right? Only the roof?
What if it does a full roll in the air and then lands back on it's wheels? The rule reads "Why am I upside down" and "any driver who puts a car on its roof..." It says nothing about a James Bond barrel roll in an AMC Hornet or a Travis Pastrana back flip.

Should work like that but doesn't... otherwise the LeCar team would have stayed out at GatorRama

A car only ended up on it's side at NL and it was not banned from the race.
this is all so confusing and subjective
.....i love it
You hairsplitters should just give up. We know a rollover when we see one.

And if the car drive's away before the tow truck can get there?!

No, no, I'm not saying one that does a full roll and ends up on its wheels, I'm saying one that never touches sheetmetal to pavement. There's a big difference.
Besides, I just want Phil to keep telling us no in different ways.
You guys are way over thinking this. The answer is simple: Race a convertible! You'll have no roof to land on!
Besides, I just want Phil to keep telling us no in different ways.
So, for clarification, if "someone" were to roll a car in the concours, that's okay?

Right, what happens in the Concours stays in the Concours.
