The current over/under is 25 laps. If we don't do some extra welding I'd take the under.

By the way - free hot dogs in our pit all weekend (or until we run out).  We will not be hard to find.

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Your theme is now orders of magnitude better. Well done!

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

People sometimes ask me why I race Lemons, and especially why I am flying across the country for a race. And then I show them a photo like that one, which should be sufficient explanation for anyone, and they just get that "huh?" look on their faces and walk away, shaking their heads. Some people just don't get it.

Awesome theme. Can't wait to see it in person.

No kidding.  I see pics of some of the other races, the newer ones and sometimes it kind of irritates me that most of the cars are just beaters with numbers taped on the doors...

I once heard someone say that Lemons was a shitty art car parade.... at 80 miles an hour.

Truer words never spoken.  I love it.

Haha, indeed.  but at least the car got PAINTED - it's not the same color it was born with, running duct tape numbers...

Free hot dogs IF AND ONLY IF you sing the Oscar Mayer Weiner song with one of our many costume wearing drivers.

On video.

So I can post to youtube for your future embarrassment.  smile  Better start learning the lyrics!

To save everyone a google search:

Judging from the hand holding up the "tip" of the weiner I think you guys could use some Viagra.

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Epic.

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Quick update - all of those that bought in to the when-will-it-fly-off pool for a time slot on day one (including the fearless and handsome leader of all things Lemons) have officially lost.

Yup - the wienermobile has survived day one without serious incident.  Yes, we did spend a fair bit of time in the pits bracing, re-bracing, and fixing broken welds on the bracing, but this is Lemons, what would it be without some extra pit time?

Day 2 is ahead of us, and the wiener looms stronger than ever after last night's work.  See you at the finish line!

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

It lived!  As God as my witness, that Toyota crossed the finish line in full wiener regalia!

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Your entire team was awesome.  From the free hot dogs to the costumes to the fantastic wheelmanship of the weinermobile, you really were definitely the team with the most spirit.  At one point I saw the Citroen, the Fir Burger Town Car and the Weinermobile 3 wide down the motorcycle chute towards the chicane.  Someone said it above...  Epic.

I actually saw your final driver today OUT BRAKING cars into the chicane!!  So awesome.

Congratulations and thanks for the entertainment!

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Haha!  I'm still grinning from ear to ear.  What a great weekend, and thanks to all of you that stopped by and talked to us and gave us the supportive words.

One week ago I was looking at all these pieces of wiener and bun and thinking, "There's not a chance in hell of this working out well...."  I considered scrapping the overall project, and doing some last minute downsizing.  My team, however, is made up of some crazy minds and some great talent, and I knew we'd figure it out or go down in flames in spectacular fashion.

Even after arriving at the track, with most people I talked to saying, "You guys are taking that off, right?", I still had my doubts.  We only used sheet metal screws to put on most of the decorations, with the assumption that once we hit tech, it'd be coming off in an instant.  Easy on, easy off.

Once we got into tech, we were told "If anything comes off, 1 hour minimum stop.  But go ahead, give it a shot."  Holy #$@%....  START WELDING!  We couldn't take off the decorations now, as Phil and Jonny had overlooked our "super-cheaty 120hp engine" and gave us 0 laps...  With 500 penalty laps if we did take it off.  No going back now!

50 lbs of angle iron, 1" strap metal, and about a half a roll of welding wire later, we gave it a go...  And it held!

Here's where we started to realize how awesome our car was.  I was walking to the grandstands, and as our first driver pulled out onto the track, the entire crowd cheered!  Awesome!  There's no way we're letting this thing fall off...

However, every stint brought back broken welds and collapsed wiener (even viagra aint gonna fix this one).  We held her together for day one, and once the checker dropped on Saturday, we went to work.  After a few hours of grinding and welding, she was ready to roll for day 2.

Day 2 went off without a hitch!  A few dings to the buns as the speed increased later in the afternoon, a few trips to Jonny (to which we sang the Oscar Mayer Wiener song with great enthusiasm), a slight miss to the garage door (which turned Jay's face white for just an instant), and we took the checker!

Meanwhile, all of our support crew (friends, wives, etc.) was busy making hot dogs and taking them to everyone in the grandstands.  A little boy came and asked for a "Hot dog with mustard please?" and he was so stinkin' cute that we had to give him one of our hats.

Winning Organizer's Choice was just icing on the cake for spending another awesome weekend with all you folks.  We love Lemons, and can't wait to see all you guys again at Thunderhill in May!

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

Beautiful stuff, guys!  I've never been happier to lose $2 in a betting pool.

TST, fool.

It's a Bunny.  With a pancake.  On its head.  Really, is it that tough?

Re: Sears Pointless Poll - Will it fly off?

You guys were awesome - I especially loved the hole cut in the back of the weiner (OUCH) to let air flow through!

During my stints of spotting for our car - I also thouroughly enjoyed relaying such messages to our drivers as:

"Come on, I know you know your way around the weiner!"

and

"The weiner is right behind you - you're no stranger to that though..."

Thank you!
