Great news TG! Then again, there goes my weekend. I get sucked in and can't stop watching.
+1
Excellant! I'll be glued to the 'puter all weekend.
Awesome, Chris! My family watched that last year...
We are working on a plan to have more than one camera angle. If all goes well it should be better than last year.
I'm testing a new encoding program for the webcast. I'm going to leave it running this evening playing highlights from the 2009 Lemons South. Take a look and leave a comment letting me know how it looks on your end.
I'm testing on the remix channel - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/24-hours- … outh-remix
Hey TG, it's looking good. It's not HD quality, but very watchable in full screen. One thing I found is that I can't chat without registering. When you did that race live, we could all chat away.
Hm.. I didn't know it was going to make you register this time. I'll have to see if there is a setting for that.
Thanks for the feedback!
I wish we could do HD but the internet speed at CMP won't support it. I'm using a bitrate I know works there. Maybe one day we can get a better connection out the and offer HD.
Don't get me wrong, the quality is decent. From what I can remember, it looks better now than when it was live, but maybe I'm just remembering it wrong. I *think* it was a bit grainier in full screen mode back then.
No offense taken. We are working to get the quality as high as possible with the bandwidth available. We appreciate getting some feedback.
Last nights test revealed a change in u-streams configuration.
Guests are no longer allowed to post comments in the chat room.
Anyone wanting to interact with us on the chatroom of the show will need to go ahead and create a logon for u-stream.
We are welcoming donations to help offset our expenses for bringing you the show. Every little bit helps and it is GREATLY appreciated.
I was on last night and will second the clear picture and the need to register (but not the ability). The word you are supposed to type in the box is no where to be seen. FYI
Hmm, it worked for me Jer. The registration process really sucks though. It asked for a lot of info. I eventually gave up and exited the registration process, but it still let me chat.
Thanks for the feedback from everyone that checked it out.
It looks like the video quality will be improved from last year. Hopefully the DSL line at CMP can handle it.
I let the video loop run all night last night and it was still going this morning.
Now to find cheap the rest of what we need to get the multiple cameras into the computer.
Thanks for doing this again.
Your broadcast is what sucked me in got me interested in Lemons last year.
I'll be watching!
KT
I'll be watching too. Beats the hell out of watching Nascar. I donated some of our winning nickels to help Trackgeeks out a little.
+1 Trekkor. I blame my addiction on the TrackGeeks. I knew about Lemons, but until I watched their live webcast, I didn't realize how clean and real the racing is. I now have another car to store over winter, I'm in major debt, and I have to go buy a trailer.
Well if we are going to get blamed for something...
We are having our first logistics meeting here tomorrow to go over the plan for the webcast.
And a HUGE thanks to Sergio for sharing the wealth. With his generosity we have half the rental for the video switcher covered.
One of you super-geeked-out racing teams needs to help the Track Geeks rig up a live in-car camera. Come on, wireless video transmission on a race track for cheap- you know it's your kind of challenge!

iPhone+Ustream broadcaster. What could possibly go wrong?

No problem man. Whether it's helping somone in the pits or helping you guys with the webcast, it all boils down to the same thing, making Lemons better for all.

We have been seriously itching to do this. We have the cameras and all the mounts.
The wireless transmitters that will go across the track are not cheap. The cost for a set is about $725. These are 900mhz and won't interfere with the wireless networking at the track.

I bet some Lemons team could build their own for $49. I've got a couple of high-gain omni 900 MHz antennas (formerly on Metricom/Ricochet poletop modems) I'll contribute.
