Not sure what forum I should post this in, but we need a couple of large sheets of sheet metal for our car. I know there are a few SD based teams on here that have used large amounts of sheet metal (Pendejo, I'm looking at you) and was wondering where's the best/cheapest place in town to get it.
Competitive Metals in El Cajon is way cheaper than IMS, and they're pretty cool racer type dudes as well.
California Metals has reasonable prices, and sell you cutoffs for much cheaper.
EVERYTHING in SD is cheaper than IMS...

Interesting, I thought they were just a metal recycler. I'm totally down with metal scraps if they're cheap.
Next door (farther from Main St) is the metal sales shop.
Summit Steel www.summitsteel.net is up in Vista/Oceanside area and are the cheapest I've found for DOM roll cage tubing by a Mile!-- I also got some cold rolled 3/8" from them, similarly cheap. I highly encourage you to check them out.

Or get a gas powered disk cutter and go to the local up pull. Find a van and cut away..
Really cheap.
It depends on what thickness you are looking for and how much you need but i have a bunch at the shop and a crap load of cutoffs both steel and alloy..

If you want sheet aluminum, find your nearest state DOT depot. Walked into a breakroom full of DOT guys eating donuts and asked if I could ransack the dumpster full of old signs.
