Topic: Yokohama Days of T'hill 2023 - Entry List & Tech Times

Hell yes! Bumper crop of crap: MITSUOKA VIEWT. Not a drill, that's a real thing and I think it might be the only first in this race. BUT. It's a helluva first.

Also:
* The '07 Caliber is...redesigned. It's absolutely batshit amazing.
* The Vannonball is en route. Maybe. Or something.
* Hooniverse put a V8 into their Ranchero and ALSO put a (Rover) V8 into a '67 MGB-GT.
* The Team Shitbox guys ditched their RX-7 for a Spitfire, which I hope to god has a rotary in it.
* More running from the Opel Wagon, the Dodge Colt, a PINTO WAGON, the orange Cavalier, and the big floaty Bonneville.
* Corey Dickman is going to try to become the first Big Block class winner
* The Chotus could become the third (and first non-Metro) to complete the Lemons Quadrangle of Emaculance (QOE). Anton's PV544 has a shot at that, too, but it will probably run in B at a California race.
* Our first Matrix, which isn't super exciting but I figured we'd have had even a Pontiac Vibe by now.

In other words: This is a good-ass field. Full list below, Excel version here.

Request to all teams!!!!  If you have team stickers PLEASE bring them with you to the race. I have something I need sticker bombed for our theme. I am dead serious (that’s a hint). We are running the 1973 El Camino. Will be paddocked near restrooms at pit out. Thank you!

Chris has the receipt for it and I think he paid something like 62,500 Yen (~450) for it at auction. Obviously, he had to have it shipped, which ironically cost like 5-10 times as much.

He also recently bought a Toyota Century that he intended to use to tow the Mitsuoka, but the Toyota hasn't arrived yet.

dang....they like their Miata's out there....I counted at least 17?
Looks like they are all the NA version, except for one NB
must be a record showing...!
If they are all in Class A, one of them has got to win...?? statistically?
any bets?

A BMW will win this race. I am trying to remember the last non-eyesore Miata win in CA. I think it has been a while. There are about 10 crazy fast cars in this field.

Looks like since 2021 Eyesore won two races in CA, there was one VW Corrado win and all the rest were BMWs.  Maybe they should bring back the waitlist.

Or start an all BMW class at races where the winner gets a free entry to AER...

But as long as I can laugh at BMWs getting pWned by a jeep cherokee like they did at pittrace, meh, whatever...

Re: Yokohama Days of T'hill 2023 - Entry List & Tech Times

I'm confused by the public MyLaps data as presented without logging into an account.

Anyone know(?):

Is the magenta-colored "Best Lap" time awarded
only to a car that's running
1. at the end of the race, and/ or
2. the entire race and/ or
3. some other parameter,

OR:

Is it just a mistake?

At first glance, it looks like they have the wrong 'Stolen Trailer Racing' car listed with the best lap time.

But it looks like the car with the best listed lap time ran (roughly) 3.5 hours less during the race (~11hrs / 14.5hrs).

I mean, I understand _everybody_'s short-staffed these days.

Am I the jerk for pointing it out (admittedly, I get this a LOT)?

The magenta lap time is the fastest single lap time posted by any car at the race.  If you go to an individual car, the green time is their fastest lap.

Understood; and that's what i initially thought. I have an account, I just was looking at the public reporting.

But: I meant exactly what I wrote (above).

This (below) is what I'm looking at (I'm assuming everyone's familiar with the spreadsheet structure, but let me put in abbreviated column headings):

Pl.      #                   Team Name.           Run time(?)  Delta.  #laps Best lap time #    speed
11    134        Stolen Trailer Racing    14:34:43.939    11 laps    195    *3:23.496*    61    88.454 mi/h

55    35        Stolen Trailer Racing    10:59:36.798    56 laps    150    3:22.687    98    88.807 mi/h

What is your confusion?  Car 35 had a faster single lap time than car 134.  It is independent of how many laps or how long it races. The fastest lap time could be a car does does 1 lap really fast and then blows up and goes home.

Kinda makes me question the accuracy of their data - "Kinda", like: "I'm 'Kinda' pregnant".

He’s saying that the purple lap isn’t the fastest one. The second screenshot shows a 3:22 which is faster than the purple 3:23.

I would guess a mistake but I don’t know why

I guess it's also plausible that a breakdown in a convenient spot would result in a "fast" lap time but not really a lap. Race monitor results are not touted as official, probably for reasons like that.

Maybe there was an off-track excursion that resulted in a black flag and that lap not counting? Who knows.

That guy
