Topic: Building a roof rack for a boxster, need some help in the Denver area.

Hey all, as the title suggests, I need a roof rack for a 1999 Porsche Boxster.

Also, for clarification, this is a roof rack for a street car, not a Lemons build.

This idea isn't as crazy as it seems, because Porsche actually manufactured a roof rack (AKA the Roof Transport System or RTS) for the 986 and they all (supposedly) come with attachment points built into the A-pillar and B-pillar. Unfortunately, OEM racks trade for well past the $1,000 mark and no aftermarket solution exists at this time, cheaper or otherwise.

Here is a reference article from Pelican Parts: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticl … f_Rack.htm

I'm envisioning a contraption made of steel tubing that bolts together to allow me to carry things like two full-size kayaks on top of my sportscar utility vehicle.

Is there anyone in the Denver area who might be willing to help me with this silly project?

This was the inspiration that got me thinking I could DIY it or hire someone to make it for me. Unfortunately the quotes I'm getting for a recreation of that roof rack are more expensive than the OEM system, even at jacked up valuations.

Currently thinking about just biting the bullet and getting the OEM rack.
