you don't need to modify the suspension, just work on not getting black flags...
what is your car's residual value?

Yes we do! We drive good! I don't Know!
Modifications are expected, the Judges would be absolutely bored out of their minds if no-one modified their car. Your modifications are in the spirit of Lemons, modify away.
there is nothing wrong with "modified" parts...the judges LOVE to see inventive ways to make something work better without "buying" faster parts......
For example...say you need stiffer rear sway bars...sure you could drop $$$ on fancy drop links..... OR just cut the link and make it shorter-longer depending on your application for the same end result!!!
Whiz bang fancy parts = PENALTY LAPS
Homemade near scary stock mods = happy judges
How about Porsche adjustable camber plates welded into a Mazda?

As long as you've documented where you bought the Porsche parts and they fit within your budget, have at it!
How about two adjusting 3/16" raw steel plates bolted together and welded into a Mazda?
Fixed that for you. (bonus points if they also adjust caster)

How about just slotting the holes in the strut tower? Same result.
