Topic: Canadians heading south

Any Canadians Lemonsers want to share border-crossing secrets with us? We are Goin' for Brokin in May and would love some insight on the crossing experience.

Rubber glove jokes aside.

Re: Canadians heading south

1) Drive to border
2) Tell them you are visiting for the weekend and show them your passport (might not need it)
3) Drive to track

It's really that easy.

Re: Canadians heading south

Spoken like an American,
" What's the purpose of your trip?"
"Well it's a $500 car race"
" Pull over to the side, go on inside"
Your men at the border like young white boys like us!

Re: Canadians heading south

Having done it twice now, it's nearly as easy as Jeff G says it is.

Make sure you've got a manifest of all the big and expensive looking things, and have it signed at customs.  We had a bunch of hassle getting back IN to the country in our first year because they thought our junkyard spare engine was a brand new one we bought in the US.

Car to Pit telemetry (OBD2, GPS, and analog inputs) with little more than a phone, router, and laptop.  It's not MacGuyver, it's WifiLapper (forum | facebook)

Re: Canadians heading south

Record the serial numbers of the big stuff (generators, welders, etc. and if you're bringing one of those big time pit carts with 10K of tools, snap a picture for your records). Bring your ownership for the race car, or if it doesn't have one, bring/make a log book for the car. And bring your acceptance e-mail on paper to show the smiling guys at US Customs. If you want to bring lots of food-type items technically you have to bring an FDA Prior Notice which is an on-line form. Coolers are OK...
