Topic: Fire extinguisher question

I know the rules say a Purple K extinguisher, but I got a free 4lb Halon 1211 extinguisher with metal mounting bracket at work today.  Will this be good enough?  It is a type ABC extinguisher and meets the weight requirements.

Re: Fire extinguisher question

Should be fine.  We have used a 2.5# halon for a couple of events, no problem

You probably should worry about catching on fire so often

Just to clarify in the rare event that someone in the future does a search before asking this question again, but Rule 3.3 actually states that a car needs a 2.5 lb. (or larger) fully-charged fire extinguisher which meets one of the following specifications:

Purple K;
Type 10B:C; or
Type A:B:C extinguisher.

A Purple K extinguisher is but one of the three accepted types.

IOW, you're fine with a ABC Halon fire putter-outter. Cheers.
