Topic: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

What car do you guys think will be the steed of choice in 2025, supplanting the miata/e30 crowd?   Today's rules apply (500, yadda yadda).

My guess would be the 2011-whenever v6 mustang (bonus points if you find one with a track pack).  The 305hp v6 and new suspension has pushed the stang light years ahead of the 2010 model, but it ought depreciate just as well and if history is any guide there will be bazillions of those things floating around....

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

I'm thinking the upcoming police SHO will be a Lemons staple by that time.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe might be popular.  Also, the Infiniti G37 could be cheap and fast.

personally I like the turboed Subarus.  While the STI will clearly be a cheater, the parts are interchangable within the rest of the turboed subaru's meaning you can make a forrester or legacy pretty cheaty pretty quickly without looking as bad.

Some crazy genius will take a Mini Cooper or Smart Car and  transplant 4 Segways as independent power trains, and have the seat mounted on a movable gimbal to direct his motion..... and will lose out the IOE to Speedycop, who FINALLY found a use for the Beemer engine he was going to put in the Caddy!!!!

Jay will have bought out the France Family after another spectacular 15 years of biweekly crapcan races, and instituted BS Judging in NA$CAR.  "Mr. Hendrick, YOU LIEEEEEE"

2005 toyota corolla xrs

2011 Ford Fiesta if you are looking for an economy run.  A 22 gal. cell in that thing will go for hours.
After that I agree with the E36 and V-6 Mustang.

Cobalt SS with 265 HP turbo motor. You can chip it to get
300+ H.P. but since it's a Chevy it will only run for 4-5 hrs.
before it blows!

Maybe the 2004 - 2005 Golf R32 with 4wd and 240+ H.P.

BMW 1 Series

Dodge Caliber R/T with Turbo motor

Challenger R/t with Hemi

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT /8 with 425 HP hemi and 4wd

Nissan Altima w/ 270 hp V-6

Caddy Cts-V w/ vette motor

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

Maybe the 2001 Jetta TDI would be Lemons fodder by then. I'll only have to make 1 fuel stop the WHOLE event.

I expect a major electrical catastrophie to take it out long before its elligable though.

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

B13 SE-Rs, 1st gen Miatas and E30s will STILL dominate since all of the other cars listed in this threat will go into CANBUS meltdown, the throttles will stick, and the inevitably installed drive-by-wire brakes will fail.

Not to mention that I can make a new throttle cable bracket out of beer cans and persistence, but good luck fabbing a new drive-by-wire throttle actuator. big_smile

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300C. Also Chevy Malibu. There are a ton of them in the rental fleets these days, which guarantees lots of beat-ass junkers down the road.

Drove a new Taurus today. Lots better than either the Charger or Malibus in the rental fleets.

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

Only if it's a twin engine quad turbo (per engine) awd dually.

Pendejo - There is no such thing as a racing budget and if you can't afford to set it on fire and watch it burn while drinking a beer then don't race it.

Maybe you could borrow the BMW V12 from Speedycop.  I'm sure he won't use it before then. smile

00-01 Audi S4 would be my choice

If it doesn't have 2 doors, 3 pedals, and 5 lug nuts per wheel - It isn't a real race car

Re: Lemon of choice for the 2025 season?

02-05' S4 with 80 more HP..
