Topic: Here comes another British Car

I am not really new, drove in the Buttonwillow event last fall with Team Bean.

I purchased a 1980 Triumph Spitfire for $120.  The engine is suppose to run but has carb problems.  My son will build this one and we should have it ready some time this year.  Here is a link to picture as purchases.

Re: Here comes another British Car

Yeah, it's only money and why be reliable when you can make a screwed up car that will break down.

Re: Here comes another British Car

sbf/sbc swaps have been done in that car many times ovr with little or no issues. find a crashed mustang, camero, something like that for a couple hundred bucks. dig out the metal orkng tools, and have at it.

maybe you shoud try the project the heckler, jtw, or us are attempting.

Re: Here comes another British Car

i almost killed myself in one of those when i was 19.  beware of the rear suspension folding up.

Re: Here comes another British Car

If it has been done many times, why do it?  Besides the front suspension will not handle the weight of the engine so it has to be beefed up, then the rear end needs to be upgraded to handle the torque.

There are much better engine choices that will be more efficient, ligher and more reliable.

Looks like a great start!  If we get our TR6 racing, the next step is to build a Spit as a backup (have lots of free parts hanging around)...

Best of luck!!!!  Us British car teams need to stick together...  :-)
