I'm sure the Bluesmobile has been done, but has it been done well?

We've never had a 1974 Dodge Monaco, so the answer to your question is no.
I'm expecting there to be at least a dozen teams doing a Blues Brothers theme for Chicago. I just hope there doesn't end up being a recreation of the epic crash while on the track.

Off the top of your head, what's the closest vehicle anyone has used?

I think Judge Phil's point, and I agree, that anything but a 74 Monaco isnt good enough.
Why not grab a pinto wagon and be the Nazi's, mix it up a bit
I thought of that one, but didn't think it would be well received.

I thought anything Nazi themed automatically gets a 1,000,000 lap penalty.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to swap in a 502 and a full race suspension and go set some Lemons track records.
Fair enough. The '74 Monaco has become enough of a cult classic to most likely price it out of Lemons reality... I found a cherry '73 Coronet which is darned close, but close isn't close enough.

That and the friggin House of Blues bought up every one they could find for promotional vehicles. Been looking for years for one to take on the BABE rally with no luck
Came close with a 74 Chrysler limo, thought that would make an interesting Blues Brothers Limo.
The 74 Plymouth Fury is very close and I believe a nose swap can be done with the monaco to make it closer.
Universal Studios didn't even care about being accurate.

Depends on how many police/Super Trooper themed cars there are.
Here's one in KC that is close to the mark but it's a 2-door. Still not THE car.

Unless you show up in a Monaco do not even bother trying to do it. As a Mopar fan and a cop car fan anything else is sacrilege. Make sure it is a sedan too, nothing worse than somebody trying to make a hardtop into a police car, they never used a hardtop as a police car. 75 Monaco's are also VERY similar so that would be acceptable.
The other theme that really bothers me is the Petty theme's. Sorry but an Audi or a Cherokee is not a Petty car. Our next car will be a REAL Petty car.
I'm still waiting to see corvette summer theme.

An Oldsmobile?
I think we should all agree to this:
If someone manages to do a half-decent version of the Bluesmobile, we should schedule a 2011 race at Dixie Square Mall. (Just do a Google search.)
Also, just found this website. Anyone see anything good/suitable/bearing a slight resemblance on here?

My team is doing the blues-mobile for the Gingerman race. We just installed a Dodge front bumper to our 89' Integra.
OK, it's a Plymouth but it's a sedan and the front end is exactly the same. The hind end...not so much.

Heh, that guy has been trying to sell that car for at least two or three years now. He probably still has the Toyota pickup ans Starlet in the background. I'd offer him $900 for all three of those piles.

The only way to do it, sadly a bit over the $500 price

And the inaccuracy of the left hand drive would annoy anyone looking for true authenticity....what? no? just me? Ok then, press on.

A plasma cutter, a welder, the ability to close the gas on my welder, and some paper mache, glue, and some candy red spray paint that say otherwise.
the later model C3's totally suck, and would be an easy car for a novice mechanical team to have some fun with. Someone please do it, and be ultra ghetto with your RHD conversion.

You mean like a bicycle chain from driver to passanger side?
Not that I'm opposed to the corvette summer car racing (I am opposed to its existence in general but I believe on the Lemons track I would be ok with it) However I think I'd rather see these done, which are also for sale at Volo
