Topic: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

just got this message "The Lemons paddock will be full. We have 86 race cars, so each team must reasonably self-regulate the amount of paddock room they take up. Your paddock space should be made up ofyour race car, your tow rig, and one support vehicle.

Any other vehicles you bring should be parked in the remote lot before you reach the bridge to the infield (it will be clearly marked). If you set up a giant Oregon Trail-style settlement around your crappy Escort race car, we will keep said Escort parked in the penalty box until you move all of your junk. "

thanks for the heads up... so...

we've got 2 rv's coming, I'm guessing others are in the same situation.  Are we to set up a tent-city in the remote lot and just work the car in the paddock area over the bridge?

There is power in the infield parking area, is there power in the remote lot?

What are you other folks planning on doing?  I hate to have the RV's split up.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

Just playing it by ear right now.  We should be okay with the pit space allotted but it will be tight.  I also received the last minute email and am a little surprised about spectators now being forced to pay the Hyperfest fee on top of the normal Lemons spectator fee. Oh well.....

The $20 covers Hyperfest & Lemons for spectators

If you have any late enter Drivers/Crew they have to pay the $20 and the appropriate Lemons entry fee.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

There will barely be space for the race cars+tow vehicles in the Shenandoah paddock. It is extremely small. There is limited power in the paddock but only a handful of boxes. There probably won't be any power in the overflow lot. Plan accordingly, share the paddock and be nice to your neighbors!

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

How far away is the "overflow" parking area? Is that the spot in the woods between Shanendoah and the real track?
I never thought I'd say "I miss Nelson Ledges"

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

The overflow parking is right over the bridge but it's a good 5 minute walk. Here's a quick and dirty idea of how the paddock layout goes:

Thanks Armitage. Not too far away, but not very spacious either.

So, if you paid for camping, you can't camp in the paddock area?  I was going to use our trailer as our "support vehicle"

Ronman;
I agree! I've been to CMP. A very nice facility. The "rest" of the track is pretty cool too!

Looks like we'll be leaving motorhome #2 home (poop!). Anybody know if they have showers at the shanendoah track?

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

Yup, that building right above the "Fuel" area has a cafeteria and restrooms with 3 or 4 showers. There are also other shower facilities located on the Main track, but with NASA/drift/hyperfest being there it will be even more crowded on that side.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

Another question.  The email says come to the "Main Gate".  Anyone know if that's the gate for the Main track?  Shenandoah has its own entrance as well.  I wouldn't be surprised if they're making us all come in the main gate so they can check folks for both Hyperfest and Lemons.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

^^ That sounds reasonable to me. They probably won't have both gates staffed at 7am on Friday morning.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

this all sucks quite frankly.... but we're committed to running the race and having a good time and I"m not going to let any of this stuff get our team down

next year though, can we run Main circuit where there's actually paved parking, a reasonable paddock, and pit lanes?  Shenandoah is not the track for 86 cars (given that main circuit exists)

Fly on the wall for this decision:
"Oh cool. They have like 4 different tracks. Which one should we get?"
"The Kart track fits the skill level."
"Too small, though."
"Dude. Shenendoah. LOOK AT ALL THOSE CORNERS!"
"Oh god that's awesome. They'll never exceed 55."

Lemon bird was over 100 on a few parts of the track last month.

Oh, you mean because of gridlock.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

86 cars * .5 failure rate / 2.2 mile track = plenty of space to party. The tiny paddock notwithstanding, Shenandoah is my favorite track to drive on smile

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

The track is about 11,500 feet long.

86  x 12 foot long cars are about 1000 feet bumper to bumper

that means we have about 10,500 feet of free area to play with smile  Or we could fit in another 700 cars.....plenty of room smile

I'm bringing my E-Z pass for the tolls and my cell phone so I can text inbetween turns

by the way, has anyone else noticed how small the overflow lot is!

First time at Lemons - huh?  Stafford gets 60 cars.  I think that Shenandoah can handle 86

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Re: paddock and where to put the RV's at Summit?

Stafford - 60 cars on .5 miles
CMP 120 cars on 1 mile
Nelson Ledges 122 cars on 2.0 miles

Summit 86 cars on 2.2 miles - plenty of room.

Oh, yeah-lots of room.  This will be fun!

Can anyone identify on the map where the gate is or what road we will come in on Friday morning?
