We're in. Now, to decide which car to bring:

Lincoln for the overall?
Rocketbird with drivetrain #3?
Mystery car that Jay called "one of the worst cars ever made?"

Hey, I have a whole week! That's PLENTY of time to get it almost built and show up late to the track!

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

The Rocket Car will be there (maybe with all 6 cylinders firing, maybe not)! Who could miss going roundy-round that epic speedway.

I will be there, as well. We've realized that the two of us NOT being there has let certain things get quite lax.

Discipline will be the order of the weekend. Lots and lots of discipline.

"This is the scene where I get shot," Bronson said. "I have these little squibs that explode to make it look like bullets are hitting." "Fascinating," said Bergman. "I never knew how they did that." "You mean," asked Bronson, "you don't use machine guns in your movies?"

you've got TWO weeks...ok, a week and a half.  but still...that's enough time for you to find and build a totally new car!

i don't think Stafford plays to the Lincoln's strengths.  that girl needs to stretch her legs.  running at stafford is like boxing in a phone booth.

edit:  ohhh, i'm gone from "Ripened" to "Effluent!"  quite a red-letter moment in the history of the Killington clan.

Re: Is it time to start talkin about Stafford yet??

Short of a disaster I'm going to be there, although when I arrive is yet to be determined.

Also, I should be bringing internet access with me (had it last year, planning on it this year).

Thanks for the warning! I guess I'll bring my Lemons cap instead. (That one's safe, right?)

The Volvo cow will be there again, following its recent run-in with a sawzall, so it really will be an El Cowmino this time. It will still be just as crappy, there's just less of it now.

The cow is my wifes favorite car.
That was really creative...
Will we see the PVC legs again?

I just noticed ya'all are from Vermont and we met you in west virginia......Hard core!!!!
Thats a long haul!

Well... I will be there but I put together a team so I may not have the smoker.  I would love to do a huge Saturday chicken BBQ but the schedule and environment at Stafford doesnt really lend well to it.  I'm trying to work out the details though and will post any updates here.  If there is a team that would want to co-host and had some labor to spare that could make a huge difference.  In any case, thanks for the compliment on the food!  You guys got me hooked last year.

Thanks! I was hoping to get the legs remounted in the newly-created bed, but I don't think it's gonna happen before the race. We took them off for Summit Point because we decided that from a safety standpoint, having a tall beam directly over the driver's head probably wasn't the smartest idea we ever had, and one of the other leg mounts was broken, and a two-legged cow would just be stupid.

Nine hours of towing joy, but worth every minute. That was a fun track, and a fun race!

Can't wait for the Stafford Springs traffic jam! smile

Re: Is it time to start talkin about Stafford yet??

Stafford will pale in comparision....
Summit point is a great track/ facility.....
If I have to choose next year I'll rather haul it to WV instead of the 2hour sprint to Conn. from NY....
The track is that much better..

But laps over the 1000 mark just sounds cooler.

Re: Is it time to start talkin about Stafford yet??

My wife and I were traveling in CT on our way to NH and just h-a-d to stop by and see the goings-on. Kinda weird to not be walking the pits at a Lemons race, but I couldn't see spending the $80 just for us to gawk for an hour, so we stuck to just the $40 to view from the stands.

Boy, did we get an eyeful! That first couple of laps were absolutely insane! I sure am glad I'm in the land of 2+ mile road courses rather than some 1/2 mile bumper-to-bumper modified oval. Sheesh that was just nuts and a totally different style of driving than Buttonwillow/Infineon/Thunderhill.

And when there's a full course yellow, I can see why a bunch of cars are prone to overheating-- they absolutely must crawl if not come to a complete stop at the bottlenecks= no airflow.

I got to see speedycop's t-bird through the fence, but they never took the track in the first hour. Was pretty cool to see that Saab and the Fiat making laps, but both took a few exits even before the first 30 minutes was up.

The "adopted by Jets" Saab looks to have been a strong runner as was the Charred Beef car-- both were advancing through the field pretty aggressively. Mind you, this was only the first hour.

Wish I could have snuck in the pits and met a few more of you (and gotten my fingernails dirty helping some) but wife had me on a short leash to make a quick exit.

Looking forward to reading the writeups.

Here's 1 of 4 videos I uploaded from yesterday's first hour of racing.

Re: Is it time to start talkin about Stafford yet??

Last year we got to as high as 4th overall, had mechanical problems (and a few penalties) and were sidelined for 2+ hours dropping us to 19th.

This year we got to as high as 4th overall, had mechanical problems (and a few penalties) and were sidelined for 2+ hours dropping us to 19th.

Next year we're gonna do something different. Dunno what. Something.
